Bosch teaches technical know-how during the lockdown – at online trainings and live webcasts: During the first quarter of the year, online trainings will substitute technical face-to-face trainings lasting several days

  • Bosch service trainings available online for the first quarter of 2021
  • Automotive workshops have a high demand for technical trainings concerning tasks related to high-voltage systems of electric and hybrid vehicles
  • Broad range of live webcasts for compact knowledge transfer

Plochingen – Due to the corona pandemic, no face-to-face trainings can be held at the Bosch Service Training Centers in Plochingen close to Stuttgart, Kassel and Vienna. “To teach workshop employees the know-how they need for the practical and daily work, we offer multiple-day technical online trainings and live webcasts as an alternative,” Mike Püschel said. At Bosch, he is responsible for carrying out the service trainings in Germany and Austria. “Even in difficult times like these, we thus show the workshops: We are there for you!”

The one- to four-day online trainings last as long as the face-to-face trainings would and are accepted as compulsory training days for Bosch Services. As the online trainings are carried out live, the participants also get the chance to personally interact with the trainers. They can, for instance, ask questions or can be addressed directly by the trainers. Besides online trainings on topics such as, for example, high-pressure injection systems, gasoline injection technology and exhaust-gas treatment, the one-day online training on 48-volt systems deals with a topic currently very important for automotive workshops. Due to high government subsidies, last year saw a significant increase in the amount of hybrid and electric vehicles registered. According to Bosch estimations, by 2025, approximately 25 percent of all newly registered vehicles will be hybrid and electric vehicles. The online training dealing with the topic of testing high voltage systems and components teaches the required know-how for tasks related to these vehicles – tasks workshops have to face more and more often. Last year, this training was already in high demand. Therefore, the 48-volt training is now also available as an online training with expanded and updated contents. So far, the online trainings are scheduled until end of March. Whether or not face-to-face trainings can be carried out again as of April depends on the regulations and recommendations issued by the federal and the state governments.

Live webcasts teach basic knowledge online and in a compact manner

Live webcast trainings have also proven their worth. Bosch now once again expanded the range of topics offered and also combined them into so-called webcast weeks. In 60- to 120-minute webcast sessions, the highly qualified trainers of the Bosch Service Training Centers teach workshop employees connected online. The topics are taught live and in a compact manner. There is, for instance, a practical demonstration on Euro5/6 PassThru reprogramming concerning control units of vehicles of different makes. Professional use of Bosch Esitronic Web workshop software is taught at three consecutive live webcasts. The practical webcast trainings are complemented by integrated videos. Moreover, the chat function allows the participants to ask questions the trainers can then respond right away and live. Live webcasts are thus considered a usefull complement for Bosch face-to-face trainings. Especially in times of contact restrictions, they provide workshops with an economical training alternative on up-to-date topics.
