New PARTITION WALLS collection from GANDIABLASCO

A tribute to the architecture of #kengokuma from the contemporary viewpoint of #joseagandiablascocanales with the #design of outdoor spaces

Kengo Kuma and his unique ability to rescue and reinterpret the traditional spaces and craft techniques of Japanese culture have been the main source of inspiration for the new collection designed by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, PARTITION WALLS. The modular pieces of wood that cover the terrace of the library of the University of Tokyo, which are the work of the Japanese architect, sculpt a unique outdoor volume and serve as a reference for this staging designed by GANDIABLASCO.

The light and natural character of the wood slats and bamboo canes is perceived both in the organic aspect of the architecture and in the #design elements of the proposal. These elements filter the light and generate transparency, light and shadow, typical of the Japanese tradition. The PARTITION WALLS by #joseagandiablascocanales find the link between cultures and evoke, in the same contemporary language, the classic Mediterranean shutters and their magical effects.

Many environments in one to meet the challenges posed by social distance measures

In order to guarantee compliance with security and distancing measures in a new post-covid environment, GANDIABLASCO proposes the creation of work spaces and lounge areas divided into semi-private rooms. The PARTITION WALLS embrace each area without enclosing it in a flexible, integrated and creative way, adapting to the needs of each moment without sacrificing space or natural light. More than ever, the user’s experience is placed at the centre and the limits between indoors and outdoors are blurred, opting for an intelligent separation of spaces that respects the environment. In this way, the environments gain in mobility and privacy and allow an intimate and profound enjoyment of nature.

The emphasis on shade in Japanese aesthetics is at the origin not only of PARTITION WALLS, but also of the concept of DNA. The modular armchairs and sofas of the collection, also designed by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, are arranged in an orderly fashion in this garden pavilion. The dividers and the sofas, the tables, armchairs and Normando sofas stand out for their use of wood-effect aluminium, which gives a patina of warmth to the strength and durability of aluminium and connects with the Mediterranean essence of the brand.

The PLISY UP rechargeable floor lamps, by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco for DIABLA, add dim points of light designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Their unique pleated lampshades are made of polyethylene and rest on a refined structure of textured thermo-lacquered aluminium.

Architectural and decorative element with a thousand-year-old history

Since their origin in Ancient Egypt, lattices have been used by different cultures and in all parts of the world as key pieces both for their decorative value and for their advantages in terms of lighting and thermal comfort. In terms of functions, regulating luminosity, delimiting spaces or hiding from prying eyes are their main assets.

In the hands of José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and in harmony with other collections of the brand, GANDIABLASCO interprets these enclosures and suggests different shapes and materials to create intimacy, maintain privacy in the open air and enjoy the filtered light of the sun. The new PARTITION WALLS maximise even more the possibilities of designs such as DNA to create elegant and essential outdoor spaces on small terraces or large residential and contract projects.

Concealment systems in a wide range of solutions and finishes suitable for outdoor use
The collection includes four models in different finishes, all available in three sizes and made with

the same machined aluminium profiles as the brand’s icons.

The DNA ALUMINIUM PARTITION WALL can be customised in all GANDIABLASCO colours. The DNA TEAK PARTITION WALL adds teak wood to the bars, while the SCREEN PARTITION WALL incorporates the warmth of textile with a Soltis plastic fabric shade available in 9 shades. The DNA FAUX WOOD ALUMINIUM PARTITION WALL is available in Golden oak or teak in the horizontal bar pattern. The brown tones of the wood-effect aluminium combine with the anodised aluminium colour and with the thermo-lacquered finishes and are also available in collections such as DNA or PERGOLAS.
