Nissan e.dams scores points at Formula E races in Rome

Action-packed racing in new layout double-header

ROME, Italy – Nissan e.dams scored points in both rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Rome this weekend. Rounds three and four of season seven took place on a reconfigured Rome E-Prix street circuit, with the racing action-packed and rain-affected.

Team driver Sebastien Buemi took P5 in round three and P10 in round four to score 11 points for Nissan e.dams. His teammate Oliver Rowland had a tough racing weekend but showed strong pace in qualifying in round three, going fastest in group qualifying, scoring a point, and then P3 in the Super Pole qualifying session. The team took a total of 12 points from the double-header event.

Nissan races in this world championship to bring the excitement and fun of zero-emission electric vehicles to a global audience. As part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050, Nissan intends to electrify all-new Nissan vehicle offerings by the early 2030s in key markets. Nissan aims to bring its expertise in transferring knowledge and technology between the racetrack and road for better electric vehicles for customers.

"Two very exciting races for the fans, especially with the rain during qualifying in round four, but ultimately not where we wanted to be in terms of points," said Tommaso Volpe, Nissan's global motorsports director. "Oli had the speed in qualifying for round three, but both drivers were affected by the slippery track for their group two qualifying in round four. Seb had to battle extremely hard in both races to earn points. We will reset for rounds five and six in Valencia."

Nissan recently announced its long-term commitment to bring its electrification strategy to life in Formula E, by extending into the Gen3 era through to season twelve (2025-2026). Nissan joined the series in season five as the only Japanese manufacturer.

"I feel like we were quite unlucky this weekend," said Olivier Driot, co-team principal of Nissan e.dams. "The drivers showed flashes of pace and consistency over both races, but we also had our fair share of penalties which lost us points. We will move on and push even harder to improve for Valencia. Formula E racing is highly competitive and extremely unpredictable, but that's what makes it so exciting."

The championship now heads to Valencia, Spain for rounds five and six on April 24 and 25.

Driver Quotes:

Sebastien Buemi
"It's been a tough day. I started P10 for round four today and finished P8 but got a five-second penalty after the race. It's been a bit disappointing with the race pace this weekend as I thought we were quicker. Still, we go away with the P5 from round three yesterday and today's point, and we now focus on Valencia."

Oliver Rowland
"A disappointing weekend for me coming away with just one point for going fastest in group qualifying. I think we deserved a little more overall. I was leading the race yesterday in round three and then took a penalty, and then today's race I was unlucky with a few things. Time now to regroup for Valencia and hopefully come back and score some good points."
