Fondazione ICA Milano è entusiasta di accogliere nuovamente il pubblico con la personale CHARLES ATLAS. OMINOUS, GLAMOROUS, MOMENTOUS, RIDICULOUS, la prima personale in Italia di Charles Atlas (St. Louis, 1949), regista e video-artista americano considerato uno dei principali protagonisti della scena artistica internazionale.
La #mostra avrebbe dovuto inaugurare lo scorso febbraio e a causa dell'emergenza sanitaria è stata posticipata al 2021.
Il progetto espositivo, curato da Alberto Salvadori e sviluppato in stretta collaborazione con #charlesatlas, contestualizza le fasi più significative della ricerca dell'artista raccogliendo opere storiche accanto a lavori più recenti che trasformano lo spazio della fondazione in un ambiente immersivo e profondamente suggestivo.
Noto per la sua pratica filmica radicale e sperimentale, da più di quarant'anni #charlesatlas fonda la sua ricerca sul dialogo tra discipline differenti quali video, danza e performance, realizzando installazioni, documentari, lavori per la tv, progetti multimediali e performance live.

Fondazione ICA Milano is thrilled to welcome the public back with CHARLES ATLAS. OMINOUS, GLAMOROUS, MOMENTOUS, RIDICULOUS, the first solo show in an Italian institution dedicated to Charles Atlas (St. Louis, 1949), internationally renowned filmmaker and video-artist.
The exhibition should have opened last February and due to the COVID-19 emergency it was postponed to 2021.
Curated by Alberto Salvadori and developed in close #collaboration with #charlesatlas, the exhibition presents new and recent works alongside historical pieces, contextualizing the most significant periods of the artist's oeuvre in an installation that will transform the foundation into an immersive environment.
Atlas is well known for his innovative and groundbreaking video-based practice. For more than forty years he has explored the dialogue between different disciplines such as video, dance, and performance. His work has stretched the boundaries of film and video, including installations, documentaries, works for television, multimedia projects, and live performances.
