From Bahrain to #abudhabi: After the second of two race weekends on the Bahrain International Circuit, with the outer configuration making its #f1 debut, the teams and drivers travel to #abudhabi for the concluding fixture of the 2020 campaign. The twelfth #abudhabi Grand Prix will be held there next weekend. The Yas Marina Circuit has seen five different winners since hosting its first #f1 race in 2009. With five victories to his account, Lewis Hamilton (2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019) is the most successful driver on the 5.554 km Yas Island circuit. #valtteribottas won the 2017 race in his debut season with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas #f1 Team. Sebastian Vettel is the second-most successful contestant in terms of race wins, with a personal tally of three. In the qualifying stakes, Lewis also leads the way with five pole positions. Mercedes-powered cars have achieved a grand total of seven wins and eight pole positions in #abudhabi. The lap record in the race is 1:39.283 minutes, clocked by Lewis in the 2019 season. The fastest lap ever driven on the circuit was also recorded by Lewis on his pole-setting lap (1:34.779 minutes) last year.
Runners-up in the #italiangtchampionship with a Mercedes-AMG GT4: Customer #racing team Nova Race finished the 2020 #italiangtchampionship second in the GT4 Pro-Am class. In the season finale at Autodromo Vallelunga, Francesco Massimo De Luca and Luca Segù (both ITA) in the number 227 Mercedes-AMG GT4 secured the class win in the first of the two sprint races. A P4 in the second race was enough for them to finish the season as runners-up in their class. They were joined on the podium by Andrea Belicchi and Jodi Vullo (both ITA) in the number 288 Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Scuderia Villorba Corse, who finished third in their class in Sunday’s race.
Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and #alexandermoiseev (RUS) in the number 90 Mercedes-AMG GT3 fielded by AKM Motorsport made two podium appearances in the GT3 Pro-Am category. In both races over 50 minutes, the duo finished ninth overall and third in class.
Podium double on series debut: The #ultimatecupseries contested on various European circuits is open to GT cars, prototypes and single-seaters. Customer #racing cars from Affalterbach joined the line-up for the first time in the season finale at Circuit #paulricard. The number 61 Mercedes-AMG GT3 fielded by AKKA ASP took the runner-up spot in two of the five races over the weekend. #mauroricci (ITA) moved up from seventh on the grid to P2 at the finish line in the first of the four sprint races. He produced the same result partnered by team principal #jeromepolicand (FRA) at the end of the four-hour race.
