Third Fiesta Rally4 Victory in 2020 ERC3 Championship

Estonians #kentorn and #kauripannas charged their EcoBoost-powered Fiesta Rally4 to victory in the 2020 FIA European #rally Championship ERC3 and ERC3 Junior categories on #rallyhungary.

Torn and Pannas' victory marks 50 category wins for the Fiesta Rally4 since its competitive debut in June 2020.

The third victory from four rounds for Torn and Pannas means that they have further strengthened their position in both the ERC3 and ERC3 Junior Championships. They now lead both championships by 33 points with two rounds remaining. A crew's best four scores count towards the ERC3 Junior Championship and their best five scores count towards the ERC3 Championship.

The M-Sport Poland built Fiesta Rally4 has finished on every ERC3 and ERC3J podium in 2020, taking the top step on three occasions and locking out all of the podium spots on #rally Liepaja.

Rally Hungary was an enormously tricky affair with the young Estonian crew having to navigate their Fiesta Rally4 car through asphalt stages strewn with mud, gravel or leaves in very changeable conditions.

Friday evening saw Torn and Pannas take second on the opening super special stage at the Rabócsiring race track. Typical #rally action resumed on Saturday with two loops of four stages where Torn put on a masterclass.

Taking six out of eight stage wins, Torn adapted to the challenges offered by each stage showing incredible pace and determination. A puncture on stage five would not stop the Estonian crew, despite losing 36 seconds in the stage, by the end of the opening leg of the #rally Torn and Pannas had a jaw-dropping lead of almost one minute.

The second and final leg of #rallyhungary commenced on Sunday across a total of seven stages. Even with their extensive lead the Estonian crew did not relent, taking three more stage wins. A puncture on SS15 prevented Torn and Pannas from increasing their lead before claiming their third victory of the 2020 ERC3 and ERC3 Junior Championships.

Maciej Woda, M-Sport Poland Team Director: "The pace and level that Ken and Kauri delivered this weekend was nothing short of phenomenal. We have now claimed 50 category victories with the Fiesta Rally4, when you consider it made its competitive debut in June it is an amazing achievement. I want to say a massive thank you to everybody involved in making this happen, that includes all Fiesta Rally4 drivers, customers and in particular everybody at M-Sport Poland. We are facing so many challenges right now but it is not deterring anybody. #rallyhungary threw absolutely everything it had to offer at the drivers in ERC this weekend and our very talented Estonian crew rose to the challenge and were a cut above the rest of the ERC3 Junior field. When I saw the conditions of the stages and the times Ken was delivering compared to our competitors I was just in disbelief. To have a puncture and still hold a one-minute lead after a full day of rallying is remarkable. They proved that the Fiesta Rally4 is a car that is capable of winning rallies on any surface in any conditions. Ken and Kauri hold a very strong championship position now, which is well deserved, congratulations!"

Ken Torn (1st in ERC3 and ERC3J): "The whole weekend was a really good lesson for us, we learned a lot of valuable road knowledge for the future. The weekend went really well, even though we had two punctures, but that was part of our #rally and it made us work stronger. The Fiesta Rally4 worked really well like always, a massive thank you to the M-Sport Poland team who did a brilliant job all weekend. I have been working with the Fiesta for a long time and it's been great to see how it has progressed. It is a really competitive car and to take the 50th category victory for the Fiesta Rally4 is a proud moment for me and I think it's a great achievement for M-Sport Poland."
