Guidi&Schoen presents 'Linee' by Alessandro Lupi

Thursday, October 8th, starting at 6.00 p.m., Guidi&Schoen opens the exhibition season on the occasion of #genova Start 2020, with the exhibition by #alessandrolupi Linee.

The Genoese artist, who has lived in Berlin for more than 10 years, returns to exhibit in his city with a series of site-specific installations that dialogue with the space through the three floors of the gallery. Heterogeneous works that find a "line" that reflects on the ability to create illusions, cognitive short circuits and reflections on the perception of reality. In a world increasingly dominated by virtuality, in which experiences become superficial, ephemeral, low-definition, working with space and matter becomes an important aspect to understand that in reality are hidden the stimuli to create a broader and more subjective fitness of imagination.

Alessandro Lupi was born in Genoa in 1975 and lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti in Genoa: in those years his artistic research already appears to be focused on the use of light as a tool to act on perception and stimulate new cognitive processes. In 1997 he began the series of works Densità Fluorescenti, sculptures made by placing side by side countless threads painted with fluorescent pigments. Over the years he has then developed several lines of research favoring site-specific interventions, kinetic and interactive works, hosted by prestigious international public institutions. Each work is created by Lupi starting from an idea or invention that acts on the spectator stimulating his imagination and guiding him towards a different way of perceiving and configuring reality.

The places that host Lupi's installations are museums, urban spaces or natural environments within which the works create areas of contemplation that are closely related to the context. He has exhibited, among others, at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Uffizi Museum, the Verket Museum in Avesta, Sweden, the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven and the Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin. In 2008 during the Havana Biennale he created an installation that is permanently exhibited in the spaces of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro. In 2010 he inaugurated a permanent sculpture in the Trubar House of Literature, commissioned on the occasion of the nomination of the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia, as world capital of the UNESCO Book. In 2020 the project ONE TOO FREE. Mirrors, shadows, visions at CUBO business museum of the UNIPOL group has been included among the main projects of ART CITY Bologna.

Alessandro Lupi's exhibition opens on the occasion of the return of START the white night of #contemporaryart in Genoa. With 21 openings for 21 galleries after a shine of absence, START returns the #contemporaryart circuit to its public, illuminating the constellation of Genoese galleries. It is no coincidence that this happens in such a complex year: the need for enthusiasm, novelty and above all the privileged point of view that art can offer in observing the present are the reasons and engines that have moved the Genoese gallery owners to join again in 2020. START will therefore be an evening of new meetings (in complete safety) and a new opportunity to get closer to future scenarios.
