The fifth edition of DAMA, the independent project dedicated to international artists and galleries, will be held during Torino Art Week 2020

The fifth edition of DAMA, the independent project dedicated to international artists and galleries in dialogue with historical places in Turin, will be held at Palazzo Chiablese (with access from Piazza San Giovanni, 2) during #torino Art Week from 4 to 8 November 2020. For the first time, a UNESCO World Heritage site, opens its doors to DAMA with a programme dedicated to videos and performances.

The 2020 project is entirely focused on the Live Programme, which in recent years has been characterised by the research in brand new languages of art, with the aim of promoting contemporary culture through a synergic work with international galleries. The upcoming edition presents some innovations thanks to the new curatorial board composed by Ludovica Parenti, independent curator based in Zurich and coming from a recent experience in the Liste team, who is working alongside Elise Lammer, part of the team since 2019 and confirmed for the second year.

DAMA is supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, which confirms its sponsorship for the fourth year together with Fondazione per l'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT. Among the novelties we are also pleased to present the collaboration with Faust, a Gianluigi Ricuperati's public program for the Turin art week, which on this occasion will be based in the room Salone degli Svizzeri to host talks, lectures and moments of knowledge production, as well as to a visionary project by the only one Italian 'cosmist' painter. Finally, the collaboration with Siliqoon continues to invite an artist to interpret the graphic identity of DAMA, which will be revealed in the next newsletter together with the communication of the artists and participants.

Entrance to the exhibition is allowed by reservation only and it's limited to a maximum number of accesses per hour, in compliance with the national Covid-19 regulation as per DPCM of 07/08/2020.

DAMA is an independent project taking place within historical venues in the centre of Turin to involve a group of international galleries carefully invited by the artistic direction. From 2016 DAMA presents brand new languages by emerging artists taking inspiration from Le città invisibili, a novel by Italo Calvino published in 1972, to offer a certain intimacy by installing a bespoke exhibition where artworks can be presented in a unique way, to provide to the visitors, the participating galleries and the artists a privileged environment dedicated to meaningful dialogue between #contemporaryart practices and history. A parallel program of video and #performance took shape every year through the contribution of international curators invited on a rotating basis: Lorenzo Balbi (2016), Joao Laia (2017), Martha Kirszenbaum (2018) and Elise Lammer (2019).
