Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Rain interrupts the first WorldSBK practices at Barcelona

The sixth round of the Superbike world championship got underway at the Barcelona Catalunya circuit in Spain today. The Catalan track is Xavi Fores' home circuit. The rider is on track with the Ninja of #kawasakipuccettiracing, which at this round and the next (Magny-Cours) will feature a special livery dedicated to main sponsor GiVi
The morning's first free practice took place under cloudy skies but in dry conditions. Working with his technicians to set up his bike, the Spaniard set a best time of 1'43"257, with which he placed thirteenth at the end of the session.
The second practice brought heavy rain that only stopped towards the end of the session. In these difficult conditions, Forés set a 1'57"569 to finish sixteenth. In the overall standings it was the morning's times that prevailed and so Xavi ended the day in thirteenth position.
Tomorrow will see the Spanish rider take part in the third and final free practice followed by the Superpole and then the first of the weekend's three races.

Overall free practice results: 1) Razgatlioglu (Yamaha) – 2) Van der Mark (Yamaha) – 3) Gerloff (Yamaha) – 4) Bautista (Honda) – 5) Rea (Kawasaki) ......... 13) Forés (Kawasaki)

"This morning's practice went quite well, especially if we consider that we've not tested at this track and I've not raced here for several years. In the final stages, we tried a modification that helped me feel more comfortable on the bike. Unfortunately it rained in the afternoon and the wet track didn't allow us to continue with the set-up work on my Ninja. We wanted to test something new at the front that I'm convinced will allow me to take another step forward. We'll try it tomorrow morning, in the hope that it's dry. Aside from my overall position, I think we've had a very useful Friday and need to continue in a similar vein tomorrow." Xavi Fores
