Il #kawasakipuccettiracing ha disputato oggi il quinto round del #campionatomondialesupersport al #motorlandaragon in Spagna. Ieri i due piloti della squadra italiana #lucasmahias e #philippoettl avevano disputato la quinta Superpole stagionale e la prima delle due gare previste in questo weekend in terra d'Aragona.
In Superpole Mahias aveva ottenuto la quinta posizione e Oettl la sesta e di conseguenza erano partiti dalla seconda fila nella gara che hanno terminato rispettivamente al quarto es al quinto posto.
La gara di oggi si è disputata nel pomeriggio sempre sulla distanza di 15 giri. Mahias scattava velocemente e si portava al quarto posto, mentre Oettl transitava al settimo posto alla fine del primo giro. I due restavano in queste posizioni sino al quarto passaggio quando Mahias saliva al secondo posto e Oettl al quinto. Il francese lottava a lungo per la prima posizione e solo nel finale perdeva terreno, andando comunque a conquistare il suo terzo #podio stagionale, il quinto per il #kawasakipuccettiracing in questo campionato. Ed i podi avrebbero potuto essere due, perché Oettl ha perso la terza posizione solo nella volata finale, per soli 32 millesimi di secondo.
Un'altra ottima prestazione per i due piloti di Manuel Puccetti, che si confermano grandi protagonisti del mondiale Supersport. Nella classifica del campionato Mahias è terzo con 119 punti, mentre Oettl sale al quarto posto con 100.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il #campionatomondialesupersport è fissato per il weekend del 18,19 e 20 settembre sul circuito di Barcellona in Spagna.

"C'è stata una caduta davanti a me e questo mi ha permesso di guadagnare alcune posizioni, ma sino dall'inizio ho capito di avere il passo necessario per restare nel gruppo di testa. Dopo la caduta ho cercato di restare con Locatelli perché non avrei potuto mantenere quel ritmo da solo ed ho spinto davvero forte per sei o sette giri. Però non era possibile guidare in questo modo per tutti i 15 giri della gara. Ho anche perso l'anteriore rischiando di cadere, ed ho perso due decimi. Perdendo tre decimi al giro era impossibile restare con Andrea. Mi sono reso conto che avevo un buon margine sui piloti che mi seguivano e allora mi sono detto: "OK, il secondo posto è un buon risultato per il team", anche perché ultimamente siamo arrivati vicini al #podio senza salirci e la squadra ha sempre lavorato tanto. Ho ridotto la mia andatura ed ho concluso in seconda posizione. Una buona posizione visto che a volte devo spingere al massimo per concludere al quarto o quinto posto. Oggi alla fine della gara mi sono sentito più a mio agio sulla mia moto".

"E' stata una buona gara ed oggi il set up della #moto era migliore rispetto a quello di ieri. Alla fine l'unica cosa negativa è stato perdere il #podio all'ultima curva. Ho commesso un errore e non sono riuscito ad inserire subito la quarta marcia e questo mi ha penalizzato nella velocità di uscita dalla curva. Ero al fianco di Vinales, ed è stato un mio errore. Abbiamo lottato per la terza posizione per tutta la gara, e quindi mi spiace tanto non essere salito sul podio".
Kawasaki Puccetti #racing – Second place for Mahias! Oettl finishes fourth.
Kawasaki Puccetti #racing has concluded round five of the Supersport world championship at #motorlandaragon in Spain. Yesterday saw the two riders #lucasmahias and #philippoettl take part in the fifth Superpole of the season and the first of the weekend's two races.
In the Superpole, Mahias obtained fifth position and Oettl sixth, meaning that the pair lined up on the second row of the grid for race one, which they concluded in fourth and fifth place respectively.
Today's race took place this afternoon over a distance of 15 laps. Mahias made a very fast start to move into fourth place, while Oettl was lying seventh at the end of lap one. The pair held their respective position until lap four, when Mahias moved up to second place and Oettl to fifth. The Frenchman battled long and hard for the win and only began to lose ground in the final stages, nevertheless securing his third podium of the season and the fifth for #kawasakipuccettiracing. It was almost two podiums, as Oettl only lost third in the final stages, closing 32 thousandths of a second from second.
Another strong performance by Manuel Puccetti's riders who are proving to be frontrunners in the Supersport championship.
In the championship standings, Mahias holds third with 119 points, while Oettl moved up to fourth place with 100.
The next Supersport world championship round will take place over the weekend of 1820 September at the Barcelona circuit in Spain.

"There was a crash in front of me and I made up some places, but I think I already had the pace for this group in the early stages. After the crash I tried to stay with Locatelli because I could not keep that pace alone, and I really pushed for six or seven laps. But it was not possible to ride for all 15 laps in this condition. On one occasion I almost lost the front, then I lost two tenths. Once I lost three tenths, it would be impossible to catch Andrea. I realised there was a big gap back to the riders behind and I thought 'OK, second is a good position for the team' because we have been off the podium recently while they have been working very hard all the time. So I reduced the pace and finished second. This is a good result for me too, as sometimes we have to push hard for fourth or fifth position. Today was a little bit more comfortable at the end."
Oettl
"We ran a good race and the bike set-up felt a little better than yesterday. In the end the only thing which I did not like was losing the podium in the last corner. I made one mistake and I could not get into fourth gear immediately, which cost me a little bit of speed heading out of the corner. I was already alongside Vinales but it was my mistake. We were fighting for third all race long, so I am disappointed that we are not on the podium."
