The Superpole and first WorldSBK race making up round five of the Superbike world championship played out today at #motorlandaragon in Spain. Yesterday, #kawasakipuccettiracing rider Xavi Fores completed the first two free practice session, working on the set-up of his ZX-10R along with his team.
Today, in hot and sunny conditions, the Spaniard headed out for the final free practice, which he closed in fifteenth place with a time of 1'51"210, just a few thousandths of a second from his best lap set yesterday.
In the late morning, Fores took part in the fifth Superpole of the season, which established the grid for the first two of the weekend's races. With a time of 1'50"044, Xavi scored fifteenth place, meaning he lined up on row five of the grid for the afternoon's 18-lap race.
Fores made a good start but in one of the first turns he came into contact with another rider and was forced off track, losing a great deal of ground. Returning to the track towards the back of the field, Xavi then made a good recovery which came to an end on lap seven, which his front tyre suffered a dramatic loss of grip, forcing the Spaniard to slow his pace and settle for eventual thirteenth position.
Kawasaki Puccetti #racing will be back at #motorlandaragon tomorrow, when Fores will compete in the Superpole race and the final Superbike race of the weekend.

"A tough race right from the start. A rider hit me through one of the first corners and to avoid crashing, I had to exit the track. I came back on in eighteenth place and started to make up the ground, but after six or seven laps the performance of my front tyre suddenly dropped. I had to slow down and could only try to maintain my position. It was a real pity because I felt good on the bike and could have scored a good result. I can't explain what happened because in practice we never had this problem, not even after many laps on used tyres. We'll change something in tomorrow's warm-up to try and find a solution that allows us to do better in the two races." Javier Forés
