Whitney Museum Reopening

Following its temporary closure on March 13, 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the #whitneymuseum of American Art will reopen to the public on September 3, 2020. Prioritizing the health and safety of our visitors and staff, the Museum will operate at no more than 25 percent of its total capacity to ensure proper physical distancing. Pay-what-you-wish admission will be offered to through September 28, 2020.

Visitors will need to reserve timed-entry tickets in advance on whitney.org, and new safety measures have been implemented throughout the building. In accordance with city and state guidelines, all staff, volunteers, and visitors will be required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while in the Museum.

Critically acclaimed and popular exhibitions will be extended, including Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925–1945, Cauleen Smith: Mutualities, and Agnes Pelton: Desert Transcendentalist.
