Akrapovič unveils new exhaust for Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback
Akrapovič has launched a new product with the release of the Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust system for the #audi #rs6avant / #rs7sportback, featuring a never-before-seen tailpipe design to finish off the high-performance and lightweight system.
Constructed from high-grade lightweight titanium alloys, with stainless-steel front link pipes, the Evolution Line exhaust system features two side mufflers and one central muffler, and a collector that gives the overall system a 28% weight savings over the stock RS Sports exhaust system. From the custom-made flex tube stainless steel link pipes – which have a larger diameter in comparison to stock and are fully insulated where they attach to the factory fitted downpipes – the exhaust is perfectly routed to the valves in each side muffler, with housings cast in Akrapovič's in-house titanium foundry. These valves control the flow of gases and aid the fantastic sound produced by the system. The active X-connection – which is also cast in the Akrapovič foundry – is truly active, and features a valve for control of the gas flow and exhaust pressure pulses from both sides of the engine.
The Akrapovič sound engineers have designed a system that has been perfectly tuned so that every rev point produces an aural delight. From the low-down roar, through a strong mid-range, and on to a high-frequency top end with the distinctive feel of Akrapovič's #racing heritage, all of which are added to the increased excitement in which every downshift is accompanied a sharp rumble, whilst still providing the occupants with the comfort to drive in a more relaxed manner (if they can resist the temptation to revel in the stunning soundtrack), there is no unwanted drone or excessive noise from this exhaust system.
The Evolution Line (Titanium) system is finished with unique carbon fibre/titanium tailpipes – one on each side – which have an eye-catching design that has never been used before. The handmade, dynamically shaped carbon fibre outer sleeve is perfectly aligned with the sandblasted and coated titanium inner, all giving a powerful and sporty conclusion to this beautiful exhaust system. Alongside the amazing sound, state-of-the-art design, and lightweight construction, Akrapovič has made sure the Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust system enhances performance as well. Through tests on its in-house dyno using an #audi #rs6avant (C8) with the stock RS Sports exhaust system for comparison, the Evolution Line (Titanium) achieved a power gain of 11.6 kW at 6,150 rpm and a torque increase of 17.9 Nm at 6,150 rpm in controlled conditions, making this an ECE-compliant system that is a serious performer in all areas. It is a simple plug-and-play installation with no need to remap the ECU.
To give the Evolution Line (Titanium) an even greater visual impact, a handmade carbon fibre diffuser in matte or gloss is available as an option to provide that special finish. Skilfully handmade by the experienced technicians in the Akrapovič carbon fibre department, this diffuser shows off the Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust system to its full extent and is the perfect companion to the stunning tailpipes.
