Appena il tempo di festeggiare i due podi conquistati a Jerez in Supersport da Philipp Oettl e da Lucas Mahias, ed il Kawasaki Pucceti #racing è partito alla volta di Portimao in Portogallo, dove questo weekend si disputerà il terzo round dei campionati mondiali Supersport e Superbike.
Si tratta di un altro appuntamento a porte chiuse, riservato ai componenti delle squadre ed agli addetti ai lavori, e verranno applicate le più ristrette regole per il contenimento del coronavirus.
L'autodromo Internacional do Algarve è situato a pochi chilometri da Portimao nel sud del Portogallo. Venne inaugurato nel 2008, proprio in occasione delle gare del mondiale Superbike e Supersport. La pista ha una lunghezza di 4. 592 metri, con 15 curve, 9 a destra e 6 a sinistra. La pole position è a sinistra.
A Jerez i piloti Supersport Lucas Mahias e Philipp Oettl hanno avuto la conferma del loro stato di forma e delle loro capacità, nonché della competitività delle loro ZX-6R. Anche in Portogallo il loro obiettivo non può che essere il podio.
In Superbike Xavi Fores deve lavorare con il proprio team per adattare il proprio stile di guida alla sua Ninja, in modo da sfruttarne tutto il potenziale. A Jerez il pilota spagnolo non ha raccolto i risultati sperati, ma ha compiuto un notevole passo avanti e vuole quindi continuare su questa strada, che lo porterà ad ottenere quei risultati che competono a lui ed al team di Manuel Puccetti.

“Quella di Portimao è una pista che mi piace e sulla quale ho raccolto dei buoni risultati. Rispetto a Jerez mi aspetto che faccia meno caldo e questo sarà molto importante sia per me che per la mia #moto, che soffre le alte temperature soprattutto per quanto riguarda l’usura delle gomme. In Portogallo il mio obiettivo è quello di continuare a migliorare il mio feeling con la Ninja e di stare stabilmente nelle zone alte della classifica”
“La pista portoghese è una di quelle che preferisco. Negli ultimi tre anni sono sempre salito sul podio e lo scorso anno ho ottenuto la terza posizione sia in Superpole che in gara. A Jerez abbiamo fatto fatica a trovare un buon assetto per la mia #moto, anche a causa del grande caldo. Spero che a Portimao il clima sia meno problematico per poter adattare in fretta la mia #moto ai saliscendi del tracciato portoghese e per puntare alla prima vittoria stagionale”.
“Ho girato soltanto una volta a Portimao in occasione dei test invernali e la pista mi è piaciuta molto. E’ un tracciato tipicamente Superbike, molto tecnico e difficile da interpretare, ma è anche veloce e l’ho imparato in fretta. Partiremo dal set up che avevamo trovato nei test e cercheremo di adattarlo alle diverse condizioni meteo. Spero di migliorare ulteriormente il mio feeling con la #moto e di ottenere dei buoni risultati”.

Just time to celebrate the two podiums scored in Supersport at Jerez by Philipp Oettl and Lucas Mahias, and #kawasakipuccettiracing is on its way to Portimão in Portugal, where the third round of the Supersport and Superbike world championships will take place this weekend.
It will be another closed-door event, reserved to team members and paddock staff only in accordance with strict rules to contain the coronavirus. The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve is located just a few kilometres from Portimão in Portugal. The circuit was inaugurated in 2008, with the Superbike and Supersport world championships in fact. The track is 4592 metres in length with 15 turns, 9 right-handers and 6 left-handers, with pole position to the left.
At Jerez, Supersport riders Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl were able to confirm their form and ability, as well as the competitiveness of their ZX-6R bikes. They will aim for the podium once again in Portugal.
In Superbike Xavi Forés needs to work with his team to adapt his riding style to the Ninja in order to maximise its potential. At Jerez, the Spaniard didn’t achieve the desired results, but he nevertheless took a significant step forward and wants to continue along this path, so as to obtain the kind of results that he and Manuel Puccetti’s team deserve.

“I like the Portimão track and have scored some good results there. Compared to Jerez, I expect it to be cooler and this will be key, not so much for me but for the bike, which suffers in the high temperatures particularly in terms of tyre wear. In Portugal my aim is to continue to improve my feeling with the Ninja and be constantly up near the top of the timesheets.”
“The Portuguese track is one of my favourites. In the last three years, I’ve always been on the podium and last year I scored third place in both Superpole and the race. At Jerez, we struggled to find a good setting for my bike, also due to the heat. I hope that the weather in Portimão is less problematic, so we can quickly adapt my bike to the undulating surface of the track and aim for our first win of the season.”
“I’ve only ridden at Portimão once, during winter testing, but I really liked the track. It’s a typical Superbike layout, very technical and tough to interpret but also fast, and I learned it quickly. We’ll start with the set-up we found in testing and will try to adapt it to the different weather conditions. I hope to further improve my feeling with the bike and score some good results.”
