Marco Lodola, 'Circled' at the Mart Rovereto

Marco Lodola (Dorno, 1955) brings a monumental luminous scenography to the #mart: dancers, mythological animals, and other shining figures of up to three metres in height surround the fountain in the square that leads to the museum. The exhibition reiterates the circularity of the museum spaces, generating a carousel of lights inspired by the visionary art of circus.
Marco Lodola’s work looks with complicity to the flat, brightly coloured backgrounds of Fortunato Depero, and to the visual immediacy of advertising media. Free from conceptualisms, Lodola’s bright shapes address the general public of television, light music, and cinema, comparing notes with mass communication. In the heart of the Mart’s architecture, his figures present themselves as iconic nocturnal apparitions.
