Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – A virtual win and podium in the CIV races at the Misano World Circuit

Kawasaki Puccetti #racing is at the #misanoworldcircuit for the second round of the Italian #civ championship with its Supersport and Superbike riders, in preparation for round two of the world championships taking place next weekend at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain.
Yesterday morning, Manuel Puccetti's three riders were out on track for free practice. In Superbike, Xavi Forés, who is #racing with the same bike he uses in the world series and with prestigious ELF livery, began working to set-up his Ninja together with his team, setting a time of 1'36"460.
The Supersport free practice meanwhile helped Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl to regain feeling with their ZX-6R, albeit in #civ configuration. The Frenchman stopped the clocks on 1'38"995 while the German's best lap time was a 1'39"649. Due to a bad storm in the afternoon, Forés did not compete in the first qualifying session, while Mahias and Oettl completed only a few laps.
Today, in sunny conditions, the first to head out on the Romagnolo track was Forés, during second Superbike qualifying. The Spaniard made the most of the session, testing some new solutions on his bike and concluding in ninth place with a time of 1'36"366. With this result, he lined up on row three of the grid for the afternoon's 16-lap race. Having made a good start, Xavi was able to get into a good rhythm and make up some places. Lying fourth mid-race, Forés retained a strong pace, which allowed him to cross the line third. #racing as a wildcard, the Spaniard was nevertheless excluded from the final classification and so could not go on the podium.

During this morning's second Supersport qualifying session, Oettl obtained sixth place with a time of 1'39"380, while Mahias set a 1'39"438. This meant a second row start for the German and third for the Frenchman in the day's 16-lap race.
When the lights went out, Mahias didn't get away very well but in just a few laps he was able to move up into the lead. The former Supersport world champion set a pace that his rivals were unable to match and crossed the line first. Oettl retained his starting position before increasing his pace to finish sixth.
An excellent training exercise for the Kawasaki Puccetti #racing riders who will be back on track at the #misanoworldcircuit tomorrow for the weekend's second races.

"I had a few difficulties in practice mainly because I hadn't been on a race bike since March. We worked hard to adapt my Ninja to this track, and during the race I was able to see the fruits of our labour. I started from the third row but was able to make up many positions. The two leaders had already built up too much of a lead though and I finished third. Over these two days, we've worked a lot on the front of the bike, testing new settings and suspension setups, but I'm not yet totally at ease on my Ninja. We'll change something else in tomorrow's warm-up ahead of the race. Thanks to the team for all their hard work."

"Winning is already great despite me not being able to go on the podium. We didn't come here to win the championship but to train head of the next week's world championship #event and so it's been really useful. The level is very high here and it wasn't easy to get to the front and then hold my lead. We tried different suspension settings and I was able to maintain a strong pace, but the most important thing is that I got back into the #racing mindset, which is key considering the Supersport world championship resumes next week. Big thanks to my whole team."

"We are constantly improving. We hadn't raced and I hadn't ridden my bike - in a #civ configuration here - for many months. I'm pleased because it's been a very useful training exercise, I finished the race with a good result, but mainly because I've learned more about the ZX-6R. I didn't know how the bike and tyres would behave in this heat but I've gained some good experience, which will be useful for tomorrow and particularly ahead of the next world championship round. Thanks to my team as they've been a real help here."
