Cappellini presents: Lotus | armchair
Inspiration
Lotus is born from Jasper Morrison’s aim to re-design the classical Sixties’ office seats. A thin and refined shell which is enhanced with an extremely sophisticated covering difficult to realize. This product represents the natural evolution of the glued upholstery system on three dimensional forms already experimented by #jaspermorrison with Hi Pad and Low Pad chairs, progenitors of this innovative upholstery’s technique. #lotus is one of the best expressions of Italian know-how and craftsmanship.

The co-molding of the fabric or leather with polyurethane foam creates the characteristic shape of “small cushions”. They support seat and back. It is the result of an ergonomic study of the chair that provides comfort, despite the small thickness and its visual “lightness”. Every element is finished off by hand. The base is realized in die cast aluminum, characterized by an exclusive form. #lotus fits easily into a variety of home or work situations thanks to the many ways its seat can be customized with different covers and sizes. A product with a simple but extremely sophisticated #design.
Designer
Born in London in 1959, #jaspermorrison graduated from the Royal College of Art and established his first #design studio in 1986. Immediately after, he began his long lasting and fruitful cooperation with #cappellini. He is considered as one of the leading and most influential contemporary designers. Each Morrison project is characterized by a minimalistic elegance that makes it extremely modern while being a sort of archetype linked to past, which puts function before expression. #jaspermorrison has been named the “Designer of the year” by the British #design Awards 2020.
