Cognac HORS D'AGE
Across the panorama of luxury products, adjectives like 'smooth', 'complex' and 'refined' are prone to overuse. But in the worlds of writing and fine digestifs, they apply perfectly. Discover a taste of both, in the new, limited-edition #montegrappa Cognac Hors d'Age.
At #montegrappa, we like to think that one of a writing instrument's greatest luxuries is its ability to slow the passing of time. Cognac production is another discipline that deals in the art of patience. Centuries of tradition regulate its creation andits requisite flavour can only be achieved by aging in oak for a minimum of two years. For the finest blends, achieving the perfect aroma can take a decade or more.
To make a pen fit for the cognac cognoscenti, our design journey began with the barrel. Using natural Limousin oak, the #montegrappa Cognac Hors d'Age has been carved to mimic the curvature and stave construction of the cognac barrel, with sterling silver trims mimicking its hoops. Pyrogravure detailing lends cellar character to the pen's barrel and cap: both have been engineered to align perfectly.
In keeping with the traditions of the oldest, rarest cognacs, this new Edizioni release is destined to be owned by very few. Only fifty examples have been produced: each is a cartridge/converter fountain pen with an 18K white gold filigree nib – available in grades of Extra-Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. A luxurious wooden presentation case is a place to store your rare acquisition and watch it age gracefully.
While the #montegrappa Cognac Hors d'Age's all-oak body will have no discernible effect on the ink within, its natural grain is organic and responsive. It will develop a gentle patina over years of use – a living record of your travels.
Offering connoisseurs a smooth, complex and refined alternative to ordinary writing, this exclusive edition has been proudly handmade in the denomination of Bassano del Grappa. There are, after all, some things that are done better in Italy.
