Antonio Giovinazzi to fly the team’s flag at the Formula One Virtual Grand Prix
Hinwil, 3rd April 2020 – #antoniogiovinazzi will make his Formula One Esports debut on Sunday as he steps in the cockpit of one of the team’s cars at the F1 Virtual Grand Prix. The 26-year-old Italian will face fellow Formula One drivers and a varied mix of celebrities and former racers in the second instalment of the sport’s official series of events.
The race, which will pitch the drivers against each other around the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, will be broadcast live from 8pm BST on Sunday.
Simracing is not completely new ground of Antonio, who has a history of competing on various platforms and with different software; it will, nonetheless, be the Italian’s debut on the official Formula One game.
Antonio will line up alongside Formula One legend and three-time Grand Prix winner, Johnny Herbert, who will return to the steering wheel after #racing and finishing in P13 for the team at the Virtual Bahrain Grand Prix. With their mix of youth and experience, the team’s line-up is sure to be a fan favourite.
Following the Virtual Grand Prix, another event will see our colours flown on the digital stage. The F1 Esports Pro Exhibition race will pitch the best F1 Esports drivers against each other in a tasty prelude to the 2020 F1 Esports Series. The team’s line-up of Daniel Bereznay and James Baldwin is sure to be one of the leading contenders of this race, with the lights going out at 9:30pm BST.
Bereznay, one of the stars of the F1 Esports Series and third placed in the championship last year, has been one of the top performers in the simracing events held so far this year, with commanding performances netting him wins and podiums; Baldwin, the World Fastest Gamer winner and a GT racer, has also been performing admirably across a series of games and platforms and will be one of the contenders for the win.
