Prelude in Barcelona: The 2020 Formula 1 season is approaching fast. No sooner had the new Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance had its first track outing at the Silverstone shakedown than it was on its way to the first official test sessions on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Over the three test days (Wednesday 19 - Friday 21 February), the team completed 494 laps (equivalent to 2,300 km) of the Barcelona track – more than any of the other participating teams. The driving was shared between Lewis Hamilton (273 laps, the busiest of all the drivers) and Valtteri Bottas (221 laps). In addition to the Mercedes works team, the two customer teams #racing Point and Williams were also in action. Between them, they logged a total of 1,189 laps (equivalent to 5,535 kilometres) for the Mercedes-Benz power unit. We have summed up the lessons learned from these first test sessions in the following article. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (26 - 28 February) of this week, the teams return to the track for the last three days of testing before the season opener in Australia.

Morocco, here we come: The Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team will be contesting the fifth race of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship season next Saturday (29 February) in Marrakesh. It is the fourth time that Morocco has hosted the electric #racing series, with Page 2 the three previous contests having seen three different winners, namely Sébastien

Buemi, Felix Rosenqvist and Jérôme d’Ambrosio. But the weekend in Marrakesh does not end with the chequered flag; on Sunday 1 March, Jake Hughes and Daniel Juncadella will be aiming to make a good impression in the Formula E rookie test on the same track.

Evolution: The Formula E adventure for the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team began in late November but is still at a relatively early stage. After five of the 13 races on the calendar, the team has not even reached the halfway point in its debut season. But we would already like to give a sneak preview of Season Seven and the All Black Edition of the Gen2 EVO #racing car, which will make its debut in the next FIA World Championship season.
