LAPALMA @ IMM 2020: "SPACES". A new season called outdoor

Lapalma confirms its presence at IMM #cologne, the first trade fair #event of the year for professionals in the #interiordesign sector, dedicated, in particular, to the German and North European market, and offering an overview of the latest living trends.
Hosted in Hall 11 of the trade fair which, for the 2020 #event, accommodates the Pure Atmosphere sector, featuring attractive installations focused more on experience than on displaying single products. The #lapalma space invites visitors to discover some of the #design worlds explored by the company in recent years, presented in an elegant and even more versatile outdoor version.

From the Lounge world, for which #design projects were created focusing on comfort and the utmost versatility, to Home Interior, featuring fluid #spaces and contemporary systems, and Café - perfectly represented by the prestigious collection of tables, chairs and stools proposed by #lapalma. Not to mention Light Office, which transforms the flexibility of contemporary work into a dynamic, recognisable and light project. Lapalma’s worlds move outdoors and embrace new designs to reach all latitudes and beauty spots on the earth. This is how the new outdoor season is inaugurated.

“The starting point, our desire to live outdoors, is as necessary as water and sunlight,” explain Dario and Romano Marcato, the founders and owners of #lapalma. “And for #lapalma, living means working, resting, eating, listening, reading, discovering and recounting experiences.”

With the same versatility of the indoor world and with the same awareness of sustainability that has always been a distinctive feature of the company, the #lapalma outdoor collection meets the needs of the home, of a light and nomadic office, of contemporary shared areas, without forgetting cafés and restaurants, where food is a fundamental component of our social occasions.

Francesco Rota, artistic director of #lapalma, has designed a space at IMM featuring various environments and the same warm and attractive material appeal: orange and dark red shades adorn sofas, poufs, upholstered lounge chairs and panels. Iroko wood, from FSC-certified and monitored forests, has been chosen for its perfect durability outdoors - among other things - and for one of Lapalma’s iconic stools, LEM, designed by Shin & Tomoko Azumi, presented in #cologne in an outdoor version.

A light, transparent greenhouse, featuring narrow profiles embraces the essence of the outdoor collection, presenting some of the company’s must-haves. They come in a version ideal for this type of use and redesigned to ensure high resistance to atmospheric agents, and include a product specifically created for outdoors: the PANCO table by Romano Marcato.

In the outdoor version, the table system that organises rooms according to spatial requirements offers a new material combination of metal and wood, but comes in different dimensions, embracing new functions. And thanks to a larger top and reduced height, it comfortably houses a bench made of the same materials, the ideal complement for a convivial outdoor solution.

For a moment of sheer relaxation, you can sit on the PLUS sofa designed by Francesco Rota. It has large soft seats and offers maximum modularity for its elements. It is presented at IMM in a versatile island composition. And among lush plants, Lapalma’s must-haves are present, such as LEM stools, informal KIPU poufs designed by Anderssen & Voll, all in different colours and shapes, and BRIO side tables designed by Romano Marcato, available in different heights and in fixed or adjustable versions. In the greenhouse, we can also find SEELA chairs designed by Antti Kotilainen, which, featuring very lightweight base supports, a polypropylene shell and an interchangeable arm pad, are presented at IMM in exciting new colours.

Beyond the greenhouse, a contemporary living space brings together the PLUS sofa, in a simple composition with three elements, and the ADD seating system designed by Francesco Rota. It is presented here in an ultra-comfortable Soft version upholstered in dark red fabric and accompanied by informal KIPU poufs. Finally, a secluded lounge corner hosts the comfortable UNO chair designed by Francesco Rota - with a flat base, fixed height, high backrest and a striking #design - and the soft and embracing AUKI armchair designed by Hee Welling.

Versatile and functional, Lapalma’s side tables (including AUKI, BRIO and JEY) provide a practical tabletop for seating, whereas the ALBERO coat stand designed by Fabio Bortolani, with its coloured metal branches at various heights, makes a statement in the space. In the same setting, the SCREEN partition panel system, designed by Francesco Rota, is presented in a new warmer version with a fabric-upholstered tubular frame.

The Café world is hosted on a characteristic rounded raised platform, which highlights the extreme versatility of the ADD seating system. It is presented here in a semi-circular composition that perfectly fits the space. BRIO side tables, also with a round base, are presented here in combination with elegant, versatile and playful CUT chairs designed by Francesco Rota and PASS by Hee Welling, in a padded version upholstered in orange fabric, with a star-shaped base.

More tables, also with a round base, are the distinctive features, accompanied by SEELA chairs in a version with wooden legs, the latest setting designed specifically for IMM. FORK tables designed by Tomoya Tabuchi - a system of tables available in various shapes and heights - provide the perfect balance of Italian craftsmanship and Japanese minimalism. Warm shades of red light up the fabric-upholstered doors of the ADD S storage unit system designed by Francesco Rota. Double-sided, with open compartments or closed with drawers and doors, its furniture units easily furnish the middle of a room and walls, interacting with colours and finishes while adding character to interiors. These functional elements provide a handy surface that acts as a top, where a PC can be used for working, while sitting on a stool such as the iconic LEM.

Outdoors and indoors, from contract #spaces to home interiors, the same fluidity, the same luxury and the same elegance can be found that simplifies shapes and makes them wonderfully similar to those of nature. And the same linearity that is the distinctive feature of Lapalma’s all-Italian style.
