Engineering student awarded life-changing career opportunity with INFINITI and Renault F1® Team
- INFINITI names engineering student from Tucson, Arizona, Andre Schreiber, as the 2019 USA winner of its acclaimed #Infiniti Engineering Academy.
- Following an intense competition in Nashville, (TN), Schreiber has become the sixth of seven Academy Engineers (one per participating region) to be awarded a unique, one-year opportunity to work in the #Infiniti #automotive and Formula 1™ divisions.
- Chosen by a panel of judges from #Infiniti, Renault F1® Team, the Alliance and Harvard University, Schreiber will begin his one-year tenure with #Infiniti and the Renault F1® Team in January 2020, accompanying six other winners from all over the world.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – #Infiniti today announced that Tucson, Arizona engineering student, Andre Schreiber, was the recipient of the prestigious #Infiniti 2019 Engineering Academy Finals award. This unique career opportunity will allow Schreiber to work closely with the #Infiniti Technical Center and the Renault F1® Team for six months each, one year collectively.
Since its founding in 2014, the #Infiniti Engineering Academy has sought out the most talented engineering students from around the world for a chance to work with INFINITI's engineering division and the world-renowned engineers from the Renault F1® Team. This unique program is the most successful technical recruitment program of its kind, with 50 percent of past winners securing full time roles at either #Infiniti or in F1® following their placement. Through the Academy, #Infiniti has successfully recruited talented student engineers in the USA for six consecutive years.
The 19-year-old electrical and computer engineering student, Andre Schreiber, was selected by a panel of judges from #Infiniti, Renault F1® Team, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and Harvard University, ahead of nine other finalists and hundreds of applicants from around the country in an action-packed final at #Infiniti Cool Springs in Nashville (TN).
To compete, the students tackled an intensive program designed to evaluate both technical and soft skills, which included an engineering exam, intensive one-on-one interviews, a decision-making challenge designed by Harvard University Professor, Dr. Julia Minson and build a dragster model vehicle. The final challenge tested communication skills with a Q&A session in the form of a press conference with seasoned international journalists.
Schreiber will move to the UK in January 2020 for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where he will spend six months working at the Renault F1® Team's Technical Center (Enstone) and six months at INFINITI's European Technical Center (Cranfield). Included in the prize package are travel, accommodations, access to a company car and a competitive salary, as well as the opportunity to work with world-leading engineers at the forefront of the #automotive and motorsport industries.
