Invitation | Press conference LEN LYE at Museum Tinguely Basel

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

We are pleased to inform you that we will open shortly our new exhibition «Len Lye – motion composer» (23.10.2019-26.01.2020) at #museumtinguely.

On this occasion we cordially invite you to the press conference on Tuesday, 22 October 2019, at 10:30 am at #museumtinguely, Basel

The New Zealand artist Len Lye (1901-1980) is one of the most important experimental filmmakers of the period 1930–1960. Living first in New Zealand and Australia, then from 1926 in London, and later in New York, he created a fascinating body of work that encompasses not just film but all artistic disciplines, much of which, including his kinetic sculptures, has yet to be discovered.

After a short introduction by Roland Wetzel, Director of #museumtinguely, and by Curator Andres Pardey, Evan Webb, Director of the Len Lye Foundation, will give an introduction to the artist life. Following this, Paul Brobbel, Len Lye Curator, Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, and Andres Pardey invite you to explore together the exhibition.

The exhibition will be complemented with a film programme at the StadtkinoBasel presenting four films by and about Len Lye.

We kindly ask you to register for the press preview via email.
If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and to welcoming you in Basel.
