Stratospheric Toni Bou clinches the fifth and final qualifying round of the season
Repsol Honda Team rider #tonibou claimed a fifth season ‘pole position’ today in the qualifying round held in the Ciudad Deportiva, La Nucía in the Alicante province. #takahisafujinami registered the eighth best time.
Toni Bou flew through the qualifying section in La Nucía today. On the first lap of the section, Toni chalked up the best time of 37 seconds, a time that he was subsequently able to trim down to 31:85 seconds on Q2, four seconds less than the second-placed rider.
Repsol Honda Team colleague, Japanese rider #takahisafujinami, committed two dabs on the first attempt through the section, forcing the rider into a prudent Q2 to avoid any potential setbacks. Clocking up 42:32 seconds meant eighth best time on the day.
Tomorrow (Sunday) sees the seventh and final #trial of the season with fifteen sections to be tackled over two laps. #tonibou heads off from pole position in an attempt to triumph in Nucía and round off the season with a full-house of wins in the 2019 campaign. Meanwhile, ‘Fujigas’ goes in search of a podium finish in a bid to climb the overall rankings. The #trial, in its maiden outing in the Spanish location, gets underway at 09:00 CET with the prize-giving podium scheduled for 15:45 hrs.
