In the past when visiting Canada we have treated our drivers to white water rafting, ice hockey and even a bit of mountain biking, but we felt that the Bulls hadn’t properly embraced their inner Canuck. And so, with the entire Team indulging in a rousing chorus of Monty Python’s ‘Lumberjack Song’, we invited our drivers to suit up in proper wood-chopping style and head out into the deep, dark woods.
To get to the heart of the lumberjack experience we enlisted the help of one of the best in the business – Shea Emery. A former Canadian Football League linebacker, Shea is now a leading logger sports competitor. With Shea as our guide we headed out of Montreal and 45 minutes later found ourselves in a remote forest setting, where the drivers learnt the art of axe throwing and woodcutting.
Daniil Kvyat: “It was a pleasure to come and have some fun on Wednesday before the race, it’s always cool. I love coming to Canada, I’m in my sixth year coming here, last year I wasn’t #racing but I was still in Montreal for the race. I’ve had some really good times and races here. it’s an enjoyable track to drive, it’s very unique and very good. There’s a special atmosphere and the city is great, it's one of the special ones on the calendar.”
Alex Albon: “It’s my first time in Canada, so I don’t have too much to say on it yet! I’ve been around the city today and it’s a really cool place. I went to the Notre Dame which was cool, and although I haven’t been to the track yet, it looks like a very special circuit. I think every driver loves the track and the fans here a very passionate, I got stopped by a few people already, so it’s very cool.”
