Georgia’s #fashion capital Tbilisi demonstrated an exciting and innovative #fashion scene with a new generation of designers, stylists, performers and artists, coming to the forefront between May 2ndand May 6th.
Founded in 2015, the platform has become one of the most exciting and internationally covered platforms in Europe. During those 5 days, the Georgian platform showcased 46 designers, and hosted more than 100 international guests from around the globe. Highlights included shows from Situationist, Blikvanger and Ani Datukishvili.
Mercedes-Benz also introduced the namesake designer Amesh Wijesekera to #MercedesBenz #fashion Week Tbilisi. The designer showcased his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection on Georgian soil, a first for the brand, in front of a starry international audience.
The show, which took place at the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, was presented as part of the #MercedesBenz #fashion Talents program (MBFT), which has been committed to supporting emerging design talent globally since its launch in 2009; enabling young designers to showcase their designs outside of their home nations.
In 2009 #MercedesBenz established the group's own programme, "Mercedes-Benz #fashion Talents", to support young people in the world of #fashion. The goal has been to help pave the way for talented designers to enter the #fashion sector outside of their home markets and provide them with support in their international careers. Over the past ten years, as part of #MercedesBenz #fashion Talents the automotive manufacturer has enabled shows to be held for more than 90 aspiring designers on approximately 30 platforms around the world, including in Milan, London, Prague, Istanbul and Berlin. The programme is growing continually and is being extended on an on-going basis with new initiatives and partnerships. The overview of the company's involvement is revised annually.
Over 24 years #MercedesBenz has established itself worldwide as a major player in the #fashion industry and title sponsor of selected #fashion weeks and events. The brand is currently active at around 80 #fashion events in over 40 countries, including the #MercedesBenz #fashion Weeks in Sydney, Mexico City, Madrid, Tbilisi and Berlin as well as the renowned International Festival of #fashion, Photography and #fashion Accessories in Hyères.
