The new classic style combining a decorative spirit with a contemporary approach

Jumbo Collection returns to the #salonedelmobile.Milano 2019 with a spectacular layout in the Jumbo Group’s exhibition area, situated for the first time in the new Hall 4, xLux, dedicated to luxury.

In keeping with the path towards renewal embarked upon in recent years, the new collection maintains the key features of the “New era”, such as the clean, elegant lines and a fresher and brighter classic style, but introduces a much more decorative spirit. There is a return, from the Orient which inspired the 2018 collection, to a western artistic style, especially to the world of Wedgwood china, the inspiration behind the decorations which adorn the furniture, such as the dancing ladies, swirls and swathes, and the three-dimensional decorative technique with biscuit effect, applied on ceramic or wood to give the designs a matte effect and textured finish. The same decorative spirit can also be seen in the new edition of the Fuji line, reinterpreted this year with influences taken from the classic world and in the furnishings of the Etruria line, produced in liquid metal with a special, innovative engraving technique which gives an original embossed effect to the patterns.

In keeping with the fresh and light-filled approach of the collection, pale colours and soft tones, such as white combined with greys, sea green, beige and gold, feature prominently in the setting and fabrics.

The structure of the stand consists of a showcase, entrance, two living rooms, a dining room, two bedrooms and a study. The signature themes of the stand become immediately apparent in the showcase, including the overlap between the modern lines of some pieces, for example the Poke armchair and Saturno sofa in white satin, and the distinctively classic style of other items of furniture, like the Diva armchair and coffee tables inspired by historic pieces.

The high quality of the materials and artisan craftsmanship, a stand-out feature of the entire collection, is embodied by the table in the entrance area. It is made of Michelangelo statuary marble; an ancient, warm, luxurious material, worked by hand with a special technique that allows classic 3D patterns to be created on tops and base units.

The subtle balance between classic and modern in the central living room is expressed by the juxtaposition of the two sofas, one in a more contemporary style and the other in the French style, while the table and cabinet from the Etruria line take centre stage in the dining room. The colour palette in the study becomes darker and more masculine, as shown by the damasco brown marble desk and the dark velvet upholstery of the sofa and armchair. The Shinto bookcase, made of maple, brass and combinations of bronze and marble, is enhanced by classic decorative elements such as the dancing ladies. The coffee table and TV stand featured in the second living room are from the same series, creating a spacious, airy setting, enhanced by a metaphysical painting. Lastly, the same fresh and light- filled classic style is evident in the bedroom. The chest of drawers and bedside units from the Toulouse line reflect this vision. They are made of maple wood and enhanced by ceramic caryatids with a biscuit finish and by the tops in statuary marble.
