Unity Plate, Untitled Homeware by Massimiliano Locatelli | Milan Design Week 2019

Untitled Homeware will be on display during Milan #design Week with a new project that stands out on account of its innovative character.
From its creation up to the present day, Untitled Homeware has represented a new interpretation of mise en place according to which the dining table can change continuously, combining different lan- guages with quality and price. Untitled Homeware has selected archetypal forms and styles of plates, glasses, cutlery and accessories and reinvented them through the use of decoration, colour, finish and pattern.

Now it has gone a stage further and presents a new concept of tableware: Unity Plate.

There is a common thread in Massimiliano Locatelli’s approach towards a project on any scale, a free- form approach in which the innovative shapes and technologies and the natural materials give strength to a #design that is guided by a constantly moving vision in which the objects and furnishings come together, move around and change in order to answer the needs of contemporary living.

This is the spirit and soul of Unity Plate

Unity Plate has three key principles:

- multi-functionality. A set of three stackable and separate yet modular pieces comprising a plate, a bowl and a top that can be easly turned upside-down and used as a salad plate. They all come in Small, Medium and Large sizes thereby offering more versatility and different uses for the individual pieces.

Unity plates offer tremendous flexibility in use and each set can also be used together with other pieces of tableware, since “mixed” or “matched” is the overriding concept behind all the mises en place of the Untitled Homeware concept.

- simplicity. Essential forms and materials: white, black and terracotta porcelain.
The materials used may well become more expensive and sought-after in future editions: marble, stone and alabaster or possibly even patterned.

- universality. The innovative idea behind the Unity Plate concept in its use and the way of serving food is that it becomes universally acceptable for European, pan-American and Asian food cultures.
