Marimekko Shoppable Home. Marimekko, the Finnish lifestyle design house celebrated worldwide for its bold prints and colours, returns to Milan for the Design Week 2019 and unveils its shoppable home concept

Marimekko pilots a potential future retail service concept by combining the physical, inspirational home-like set up with an effortless and engaging digital shopping experience. The Marimekko Shoppable Home offers its guests the opportunity to purchase styled entities curated by its creative community: the experience enables visitors to buy everything from an individual product to a styled table setting – and even the entire home décor with its Artek furniture. The experience is created in partnership with Finnish furniture #design icon Artek and Finnish digital commerce specialized growth consultancy Columbia Road.

In addition to our bold and colourful lifestyle portfolio of products, we can offer our customers our unique expertise in how to use and combine prints to bring joy to your everyday life. The Marimekko shoppable home, located in the heart of Brera, in via Palermo 5, represents the #design house’s unique lifestyle concept and combines pieces from its spring/summer 2019 home, ready-to- wear and bags and accessories lines, all styled together to express the beauty of life full of playfulness and joy, where freedom of self-expression is celebrated at its best.

A special showcase within the exhibition is dedicated to the Oiva (Superb) Tableware Collection, which celebrates its 10th anniversary. The Oiva products, with the functional #design by Sami Ruotsalainen and the playful original patterns Siirtolapuutarha (city garden) and Räsymatto (rag rug) by Maija Louekari, challenge the conventions of the traditional table setting and encourage to combine shapes and colors freely while enjoying everyday moments around the table with the loved ones. To celebrate the milestone of this modern classic, Marimekko has created a series of novelties: Oiva collector's items, a limited edition of sculpture-looking, oversized cups and bowls that comes in two versions, plain white and hand-painted with unique patterns; Oiva with golden details, a selection of Oiva pieces to which has been added a special hints of gold, the colour of celebration; Oiva with Eläköön elämä print, Maija Louekari’s new charming and good-humored floral print.
