Puntopiù: interior design and automotive in a metaphor of travelling, for aesthetics without boundaries

An ideal journey through four continents to narrate how the art of decorative application can stretch beyond any border.

Since it was founded in 1984, #puntopiu has never stopped focusing all its work on research. It has always firmly believed in experimentation, both in terms of new materials and new techniques. Thanks to its creativity, #puntopiu can offer ideas, new approaches, imagination, style and opportunities to envisage future aesthetic solutions. And all this without ever overlooking the context; in other words, that it is operating in the field of decoration and is the expression of Italian craftsmanship of the very highest quality. This has made the company a benchmark for the high-fashion sector for over thirty years, excelling at finding answers even before the questions arise. This is why today, #puntopiu is turning its attention to the #interiordesign and #automotive sectors, with the aim of going even further. Beyond its own boundaries.

Our Collection:

Travelling is a contamination of eras, colours and emotions that blend in the creations, to narrate new experiences. We begin with some vintage finds, forgotten pieces that take on new meanings as unique objects, works of art that recall travel experiences and travel fusion. Four Baroque-style chairs pave the way for four themes. Reworked and reinterpreted in a sophisticated pop key, they symbolise the stages of an imaginary journey and are both the departure point and destination of evocative places that range from Africa, to Asia through to America and the Antarctic. As well as the chairs, we have brought many other period pieces back to life, whilst others have been specially created as they are congenial to a certain type of grandeur.

Africa:

A story to discover craftsmanship and traditions. The colours palette ranges from natural earth colours, right through to sunset reds. Rhythm is inborn, it is pure emotion, an echo recalling how we are all connected. Tapestry is revisited and becomes brilliant velvet, embroidered with the mosaic of a woman’s face created using studs and Swarovski® crystals, with effects recalling the shadows of the night. Fauna - zebras and big cats - are embroidered onto the headboard of an early 20th-century bed, tribal clothes and costumes become upholstery nail masks on chairs with charming features in the bead-fringing ethnic finish. A 1964 Vespa 50, has been totally upholstered in leather and flowers, with fibre optic embroidery, created in collaboration with DreamLux®.

America:

This ranges from the elegant and sophisticated colours of the paintings hanging in the Guggenheim Museum, through to the eccentric and explosive mix of street life, where taxi-cab yellow dominates. This is a world of bright lights and excesses and driving around it is our super Smart Brabus, which took 1,325 hours just to decorate, thanks to the work of 12 professional decorators and 3 designers and the application of 576,786 rhinestone crystals. All the decorations were created by #puntopiu using 1,500,245 embroidery stitches and 10 different work techniques, including 3D printing and hand-embroidery, with the application of feathers, studs, yarns and glued-on chains. The mood continues with nocturnal accents and the electric blue Las Vegas armchair, with Swarovski® crystal applications.

Asia:

The highest level of energy, expressed through explosions of colour, shapes and references to the Orient. Brave accents of positive red and sky-blue frame the Asian-fusion chair, the key feature is a brilliant sequin carp resting its tail on the side of the chair, like the elegant train of a dress. There are hand-woven accents on the saddle cover of the Cham-Punk bike, which has a biker jacket with killer studs “dressing” the crossbar. Macro chains, like backbones, are applied to the bike mudguards and a skull and decorative parts created using 3D technology finish the piece.

Antarctic:

A world of harmony and tranquillity, a world with delicate nuances that make you feel right at home. Colours range from pure white to the multi-coloured reflexes of water and ice. The most important piece is the divan, totally covered in Swarovski® rhinestone crystals, with a dégradé-effect in the colours of the northern lights. Warming the atmosphere, are soft mink effects with spirals of embroidered sequins. The rocking chair has silvery, fish scale-like reflexes and cascades of printed studs recalling the effects of icebergs. Vinyl, interwoven with crystal-drop fringes, covers the 70s-style occasional table.
