“Good news from Brazil”: SOLLOS at Palazzo Litta during Milan design week

For the second consecutive year, SOLLOS by #jaderalmeida selects the elegant spaces of Palazzo Litta to introduce some new releases and must-have #design pieces to the international audience of Milan #design Week. With the evocative title “Good news from Brazil”, SOLLOS presents an appealing and poetic installation featuring its timeless #design proposals.

SOLLOS scenography, conceived by the artistic director and designer Jader Almeida, is based on subtle materials that, contrasting with the monumental architecture of the Palazzo, generates a contemporary museum ambience where past and present days exist harmoniously side-by-side. A sense-stimulating scenario introduces the visitors in an aesthetic and exclusive universe where the black finish of #sollos pieces, in the most varied materials, sticks out in counterpoint with the white hall, emphasizing the shapes of each single object.

In such an intriguing scenery, the Brazilian brand puts on display some must-have icons and the new releases.

Among this year novelties #sollos launches WINDSOR chair, a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic piece of furniture which takes its name from the English town of Windsor, where it probably originated. Although the date of creation of the first chair is uncertain, it probably dates back to the 16th century. According to a legend, King George II, looking for shelter from a rainstorm, arrived at a peasant cottage and was given a wooden chair to sit on. Its comfort and simplicity struck him so much that he ordered some to be made for his own use. Thus, the Windsor vogue was born. Despite the likely British origin of the chair, its form was certainly improved in the English colonies overseas, becoming soon a real icon in the newly born United States of America, where it was represented in many works of art, as in figures of American independence in Philadelphia.

Jader Almeida, by giving his contemporary interpretation of this iconic chair, has created a #design piece deeply connected with his stunning portfolio. Indeed, the precise curves of the seat connection with the chair base recall the essential #design distinguishing SOLLOS collections.

The back has a classic appeal, with slender and shapely features in counterpoint with the mass of the base, in a delicate balance enhanced by the curving wood.

With Windsor chair Jader Almeidareinvents a classical icon, by reshaping its lines and volumes in the sign of #sollos contemporary and innovative #design, giving life to a new stunning example of this important reference: a piece of formal rigour realized with the most accurate manufacturing.
