SCAB #design, more than 60 years in business

It was 1957 when Francesco Battaglia, still President of #scabdesign, started his own business producing furniture in Brescia: practical and modern chairs and tables, designed to make life more comfortable in the open air and free time.

SCAB #design has always been the first company that, because of the extraordinary skill and the winning intuition of its President, made, as early as 1973, a completely thermoplastic moulded chair: Patty.

Since then it has been with relentless pursuit, untiring activity, the passion for work and ingenuity that carry the brand as a major player in home accessories (chairs and tables) for interiors and exteriors, business and residential.

Today, as then, the founder's passion, now joined by his daughters Luisa and Francesca and his nephew Adelchi, has led the company to always go further, with a careful eye to the needs of the market, cementing its presence and credibility worldwide.

A 1973 article in the Corriere della Sera headlined "With Scab you can choose". Now like then. This is thanks to the versatility #scabdesign range for style and for the materials used. #design with love, part of our daily lives.

Style, quality, 100% Italian production and respect for the environment are key to #scabdesign, linked to a masterful mix and a representation of the values in which the company has always believed.

SCAB #design is above all a way of life: we define ourselves by changing the space around us. The objects that inhabit our lives are an honest mirror of ourselves, an account of our experiences through the form. #scabdesign has created these objects for more than 60 years, conceiving them already in your hands, shaping them so that they may be used daily. A team of architects, designers, engineers, and specialist consultants follows every single product through the creation cycle, adopting an artisanal spirit within large-scale production.

The company is not just an exercise in style, but also a guarantee of quality that comes from its production capacity: with a fleet of 30 robotic presses, all polycarbonate, polypropylene, and polymer products are manufactured internally. A great productive soul, divided into three units, for a total of 85.000 sq.m. and attention to detail that is inherited from a long tradition make #scabdesign a Made in Italy symbol.And again, not only research towards material perfection, capped by exclusive recognition and the Bayer Makrolon® brand concession (today Covestro made with Makrolon®); but also the stress, load, and stability tests made by Catas constantly confirming the quality of the products, subject to more intensive uses. The certification of the chairs and the furnishings, your guarantee, is a choice and a matter of pride for the company. 

Last but not least, #scabdesign is also designing a sustainable future. The products are perfectly recyclable, because the individual #components are quickly differentiable.Each plastic element reports an identification mark according to ISO11469:2001, and provides easy directions for recycling.
