The #cupra #eracer Concept, the world’s first all-electric touring car, has continued its prize-winning streak, taking the top honour in the Conceptual Transportation category of the influential 2019 German Design Awards. The awards are organised by the German Design Council and judged by a highly esteemed international jury. They identify and honour the best design achievements across numerous industries.
“We are proud the #cupra #eracer continues to be honoured, recognising the hard work and dedication of everyone who worked on the all-electric touring car.” said #alejandromesonero, Director of Design at CUPRA/SEAT. “This award highlights how truly pioneering the project is and the importance it has.”
The future of performance
The #eracer is not only cleaner and environmentally friendlier, but its #performance is even more impressive than a traditional racing car. Powered by four single gear electric motors and a liquid cooled 65kWh battery pack, the #eracer produces peak power of 500kW and 960Nm of torque. That means the all-electric touring car can reach 100km/h from a standing start in just 3.2 seconds, and 200km/h in only 8.2 seconds, and all this almost in silence.
The #cupra #eracer has been designed to take the racing experience to the next level: the front is designed in order to minimise drag, the air curtains have been placed both above the #cupra logo and on both sides of the bumper. The side carbon fibre panels attached to the front doors assist in the air flow along the body and a long wheel base is design to house the heart of the #eracer: its racing batteries.CUPRA’s objective is to redefine the future of racing: creating a new, cleaner and more efficient way of competing, where technology and connectivity play a key role. The 100% electric #cupra #eracer, anticipates this future, opening the door to a new driving experience as well as to a promising competition between fully electric touring cars in 2020 with the new ETCR series.© Copyright 2024
