Air Stools Designed by Héctor Serrano.

Air is a very unusual #design that eludes any definition as a typical stool. And the proof is if seen out of context, it’s hard to work out that #air is a stool at all. Avoiding the usual structure with legs and a seat #air looks like a singular volume inspired by architecture where the immaterial areas take on greater significance. In fact the inclusion of the voids balances out its expressive #design lending lightness to the stool, both in terms of its weight and appearance.

Air is a stool that perfectly expresses the sensibilities of its designer, the Valencia based Héctor Serrano, whose work is renowned for exploring the unexpected. Original and sophisticated, #air is ideal both for outdoor spaces as well as for indoors. It’s perfectly suited to outdoor areas because it’s made of 100% recycled polyethylene. However it’s equally suitable, in both the low and high versions for interiors thanks to its refined aesthetic.

The high version is an ideal piece for a bar counter type table on a terrace, but also for a breakfast bar under a kitchen island. The low stool, as well as being a side stool, can also be used for other more creative functions, like for example a bedside table. It can even be placed under a coffee table, depending on the height, as an extra stool for when guests arrive. Or as a foot stool for everyday use.

Designed originally for #gandiablasco the #air stools are now part of the Diabla catalogue with a new range of colour options. Because of that and its mould breaking looks, with just one of the #air stools you’ll achieve a radical and daring feel in any sort of ambience.

Héctor Serrano

Héctor Serrano trained at Valencia in Industrial #design and later moved to London where he specialised in Product #design at the Royal College of Art. There he founded his own studio in the year 2,000 which soon became renowned for the innovative approach that Héctor brings to everyday products.

During these years in London he first started his collaboration with #gandiablasco, in fact with the #air stool that today is part of the Diabla collection, the first #design of what would become a long and fruitful relationship, even closer nowadays given the designer’s return to Valencia. Apart from product #design Héctor Serrano currently undertakes interior and temporary installation #design through a parallel project, Borealis.
