2019 Honda Insight Receives Highest Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

  • Insight also recently named 2018 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+
  • Received top 5-star ratings in every category evaluated by NHTSA
  • Insight is the ninth current Honda model to earn NHTSA's 5-star Overall Vehicle Score

Receiving top ratings in all evaluated categories, the 2019 Honda Insight has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score, the top available safety rating in the U.S. government's New Car Assessment Program1 (NCAP). Firmly establishing its leadership in third party safety ratings, Insight was also recently awarded an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the institute's top award.

"If you're in the market for a stylish sedan with top third-party safety ratings, look no further than the Honda Insight." said Ray Mikiciuk, assistant vice president of Honda Automobile Sales. "On top of its class-leading safety features, Insight is also a comfortable 5-seat hybrid with great fuel economy ratings."

On sale since June 29, the 2019 Honda Insight offers class-leading power and passenger space, universally appealing styling, and an EPA fuel economy rating of 55 mpg2 city (LX/EX), while simultaneously bringing a new level of driving sophistication and style to the compact hybrid market. All 2019 Insights are equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of active safety and driver assistive features as standard equipment.

Insight's standard Honda Sensing® helps provide greater awareness of driving conditions around the vehicle, in some cases helping drivers maintain lane position, and, under certain conditions, is capable of slowing or even stopping the vehicle if it detects a potential front collision. Comprising the Honda Sensing® suite are Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM) with Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

The 2019 Insight is the latest of nine current Honda models to earn a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from NHTSA. The other eight are Accord, Civic (except Type R, which was not rated), Fit, HR-V, CR-V (2018), Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline.
