Siemens Home Appliances does the housekeeping at IFA 2018 at "Talk of the Town"

Shop windows, street lamps, billboards and all sorts of popular hotspots: the #siemens Connected City brings a fascinating world full of possibilities to life at this year's IFA in Berlin. Three world-class innovations as well as an ever-growing digital ecosystem revolving around connected appliances are the centerpiece of the urban staging this year. This is complemented by an entertainment program for private and trade visitors running from August 31 to September 5, which not only includes live cooking events but also fashion shows and live soul sessions. (Hall 1.1, Booth 101)

The connected freeInduction Plus cooktop from #siemens Home Appliances sets new standards in terms of freedom and user experience. Thanks to modular induction technology, the cooktop adapts automatically to the chef's needs, with the controls following dynamically the flow of the pots and pans as they are moved around on the surface. Up to six pots and pans of every size and shape can be positioned and re-positioned freely on the cooktop. The world innovation impresses at the same time thanks to a 6.2 inch color TFT full-touch display and two activeLight lighting strips at the sides, which also provide orientation. TV star Nelson Müller is present every day at the Food Court in the #siemens City to demonstrate how intuitively and dynamically the cooktop can be used. Visitors can stop by the coffee corner to enjoy an espresso and see appliances like the new fully automatic EQ.9 plus connect coffee machine.

A monument to freshness

The new connected French door fridge-freezer acts like a sculpture in the center of the Fresh Quarter, creating a green oasis in the midst of the #siemens City. With its black glass front, streamlined architectural design and visionary operating system, it completely reinterprets the increasingly popular design style. Surprisingly different is the user experience with two displays concealed in the beveled panels of the handleless doors. They are invisible when switched off and awaken to life only when activated.

Fashion inspiration from the laundry world

IFA visitors can expect the finest of entertainment in the Fashion Studio. The JOOP! Fashion show will daily take place on the catwalk from Friday 31 August to Tuesday 4 September. Not only is the spotlight on premium fashion but also on the #siemens Home Appliances, which allow your textiles to preserve their beauty and value. One of the outstanding appliances is the new iQ500 washer-dryer, which allows up to six kilos of laundry to be washed and dried in one go – and includes fully automatic dispensing of detergent, too. It is the first appliance of its kind to offer connectivity and also a high level of automation thanks to the i-Dos precision dosing system. In the evening we offer a relaxed soul session at the Fashion Studio Bar with Nelson Müller. The master chef will demonstrate his skills impressively every day as part of the Live Cooking #event in the Food Court at the #siemens booth.

Effective solutions for enhanced quality of life

The Connectivity area impressively illustrates the depth of possibilities offered by connected appliances. Various use cases highlight scenarios from a Seamless Life – a life in flow thanks to smart technology, design and digital connectivity. The latest examples not only include voice control and a recipe world, but also foodstuff recognition and ordering. An intelligent form of mobility is on coming soon, which combines shopping needs with the navigation system in the car. Next to this is smart nutrition management planned within the next one to two years: kitchen appliances and fitness trackers work together to help consumers to stay in shape and to ensure a balanced lifestyle.

Updates keep home appliances up to date

Putting off the decision to buy an appliance for this reason, however, is not worthwhile. Ultimately, according to Roland Hagenbucher, CEO #siemens Home Appliances Germany, "connected home appliances do not remain in the same state as when launched on the market, they rather continue to evolve and develop over their entire lifetime and service life thanks to regular updates in the Home Connect App."
