The 1000 Miglia at the Monterey Car Week

The first step of the Red Arrow new season was Star-splanged.

Even this year, the opportunity to meet the many American fans of the 1000 Miglia has been the extraordinary motoring event that takes place in August in the Monterey Peninsula, from Laguna Seca, where on track competitions are held, to Carmel Valley and Pebble Beach , where various and very famous competitions for vintage cars take place.

The 1000 Miglia week in California has started with the "Concourse on the Avenue" of Carmel by the Sea, where 1000 Miglia Srl awarded a special prize, called "The Spirit of 1000 Miglia", won by an Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sport of 1957, a rare bodied version realized in Milan by Zagato, characterized by the "double hump" on the roof.

To represent the race of Brescia on the famous Ocean Avenue of Carmel-by-the-Sea was Francesca Parolin, general manager of 1000 Miglia srl, who awarded the “Biscione” red coupe, as the elegance concourses are the only competitions where to win is only the car, not the driver.

Among the various exhibitions that at this time of the year celebrate the best of car design and engineering in California, in the last decade "The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering" has become one of the most famous. Also in this occasion, a prize was awarded to the car that best interpreted "The Spirit of 1000 Miglia".

Many were the candidates but only one extraordinary model could’ve been the winner: a Ferrari 340 America berlinetta Vignale, champion of the 1000 Miglia of 1951 driven by the crew Villoresi / Cassani, a Scuderia Ferrari official car. For several years, this jewel is owned by the American pilot and collector Jack Croul.

To deliver the prize, Alberto Piantoni, CEO of 1000 Miglia Srl, and Mark Gessler, president of HVA, Historic Vehicle Association, the association of American enthusiasts who signed a fruitful collaboration with the Red Arrow.

At "The Quail", 1000 Miglia Srl also had a lounge where dozen vintage cars have been hosted: the space dedicated to the Red Arrow has turned into a “living room” where, as in all the other meetings in California, enthusiasts and Overseas collectors received information about the activities of 1000 Miglia, from the 2019 edition to the imminent opening of the 1000 Miglia Register.
