Mercedes-Benz Vans at Caravan Salon 2018: Setting out to new horizons

At this year's Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, visitors will travel into the future with #mercedesbenzvans. In Hall 16 (Stand D18-01, D18-02), the brand with the star is presenting forward-looking ideas in the #camper #van segment, from emission-free powertrains to intelligent connectivity solutions. Another highlight at the Mercedes-Benz stand will be the first #camper vans based on the new Sprinter from HYMER and La Strada. They will celebrate their trade fair debut in Düsseldorf.

Volker Mornhinweg, Head of #mercedesbenzvans: "We aim to further strengthen our standing in the #camper #van segment and position ourselves even more strongly than before as an innovation driver. That goes for our family of Marco Polo #camper vans and leisure vehicles as well as for the bodybuilder business. This goal is represented by the Mercedes-Benz stand at this year's Caravan Salon. With exhibits such as the "Concept Marco Polo" with intelligent connectivity solutions, we are already making the future happen today. "I am also delighted about the trade fair debut of the first #camper vans based on the new Sprinter as well as the great interest in our newcomer," added Mornhinweg.

The #camper #van of the future – emission-free and connected

At Caravan Salon 2018, #mercedesbenzvans will present the "Concept Sprinter F-CELL"*, which stands for locally emission-free mobility with a long range (up to 530 kilometres) and fast refuelling. Properties of the fuel cell powertrain that are excellently suited for use in #camper vans.

*Note: The "Concept Sprinter F-CELL" will be on show at Caravan Salon exclusively on 24 August.

An added bonus: if necessary, the fuel cell can be used as an independent, powerful energy source for the living area.

The "Concept Marco Polo", on the other hand, takes up the trend of the connected home or smart home, with convenient voice control of air suspension, pop-up roof, lights, etc. This is made possible by a newly developed interface module called "Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control" (MBAC), which will be available in the new Sprinter in 2019. The "Sprinter Connected Home" demonstration vehicle, which is close to production, illustrates the intelligent connectivity of components specific to #camper vans that, thanks to MBAC, bodybuilders will be able to implement in the new Sprinter from next year.

Trade fair debut in Düsseldorf – first #camper vans based on the new Sprinter

In addition to future trends, the first #camper vans based on the new Sprinter will shape the image of the Mercedes-Benz stand at Caravan Salon 2018. The following vehicles will be on view: the semi-integrated B-Class ModernComfort #camper #van from HYMER, which is based on the newly available Sprinter tractor head variant, and the Regent S camping bus from La Strada, which is based on a Sprinter panel #van with rear-wheel drive.

A roof tent structure of sturdy, heat-insulating GRP with a parallel-lift concept from Movera as well as a heavy-duty pull-out with integrated system kitchen from VanEssa mobilcamping based on the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle pickup, the X-Class, will – along with the popular family of Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo #camper vans and recreational vehicles – round off this year's trade fair presence of the brand with the star.
