MUTATIONS / CRÉATIONS 2
CODING THE WORLD FORUM VERTIGO
RYOJI IKEDA | CONTINUUM
15 JUNE – 27 AUGUST 2018
GALLERIES 3 AND 4 ; LEVEL 1
FORUM -1, PETITE AND GRANDE SALLE ; LEVEL -1
Staged at the Centre Pompidou, the decidedly forward-looking Mutations / Créations is an annual creation and innovation laboratory exploring the links between art, science, engineering and innovation. It brings together artists, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs: all protagonists of the "sensitive" and "intelligible", who change and defy our present.
After a first edition in 2017 devoted to design and production methods linked with 3D printing, the second edition looks back at the history of digital codes and the way artists have exploited them since the 1960s: the time when computers became available to the general public.
At the crossroads of the disciplines, Mutations / Créations 2 summons the visual arts, music, architecture, design and the spoken word through a collective exhibition called Coder le monde (Coding the world), two new immersive creations by the Japanese artist #ryojiikeda, ManiFeste-2018 (a multidisciplinary festival and Academy), "Vertigo" (an Art and Innovation forum coordinated by IRCAM), study days, workshops and concerts.
