Antes - FUORISALONE 2018 16/22 APRIL MILANO

“Like a miniature architecture, the furniture and complements of the new collection reveal their subtle structure in brass. The surfaces and volumes are supported with a light gesture to let all their expressive power communicate the material research, the artisanal skill, the excellence of sartorial details, and that quiet Oriental elegance that so deeply inspired me”. Antonella Tesei The new collection by #antesdesign, a young Milanese brand founded by Antonella Tesei, proposes a yet unseen aesthetical solution generated by the encounter between Italian culture and artisanal skill and suggestions from far-away worlds that are here re- interpreted with an at once pondered and poetic touch. The original, elegant and precious appearance of every piece is the result of an in-depth study of possible relationships between colour, wood, and metallic materials in a demanding formal research that explores all their potential. The vertical elements in laser- perforated sheets with minimal sections and traits characterised by the warm hues of the light satin-finish brass, are the key features that are then matched with warm surfaces in striped wood and tops in marble and mirror. Refined and powerful at the same time, the significance of each piece goes far beyond its spectacular aesthetic impact. A more carefullook, through a hypothetical magnifying glass, reveals the magic and originality of the details and offers the viewer a whirlwind of sensations that touches him deeply like only a “furniture-gem” can do. The mood of the collection comes from different fields: Nature (the perforated sheet in the shape of a stylized flower that attenuates the broken line of the piece), a quiet Oriental elegance (grafted legs and the handles), references to recurring elements in the furniture of the past (the little net that embraces and defines the surfaces). Each piece, although it speaks to us in different languages, conveys a sense of balance and fulfilled completion as a whole: unique and unrepeatable, thanks to the patient labour of master craftsmen, it vibrates with its own light and is able to personalise a living space all by itself. A glaring example is perhaps the most suggestive protagonist of the collection: Samsara, with its open niches and closed central container, characterised by a broken line that then becomes softer in the detail of the perforated sheet with stylised flowers and the surfaces of the doors in striped wood. The same concept also gave life to the cabinet Shanti, the desk Lalita, the console table Savita, and the make-up table Gita, all elegant and refined proposals of contemporary furniture with surfaces in brass, marble or antique mirror that nonetheless are deeply rooted in the past and take our memory back to more “dressed”, warm, and suggestive living spaces. Perfect both for classic and contemporary environments, the tables with important bases and rounded tops, and linear bookshelves in brass, painted metal and wood, touch us with their at once strong and precious personality.
