Floating Life - New updates on the Explorer K42’s construction

- Construction of the second custom model of the K-Series, the K42, is in full swing at the Cantiere Delle Marche
- A resolute explorer #yacht with the entire 75 square meter upper deck available for the owner

- The K42 hosts an 11 meter primary tender, a second 6 meter tender, a jet ski, and even a SUV

Construction of the new K42, entrusted to the Cantiere delle Marche by Floating Life, is in full swing.

The hull is now complete. The deck structures are almost all in position and installation of on- board systems has begun. The yard has also begun hull verification in preparation for painting.

As part of Floating Life’s K-Series, which includes the flagship K40, the stucco for the K42 will also be 4mm thick, instead of the more usual 10 to 20 mm. This will give the explorer a much trimmer appearance and a perfectly homogeneous hull with none of the classic visual defects of hull plating.

Designed and built according to the explorer concept, the M/Y K-42 is a custom model that guarantees a 5,000 nautical mile range at 10 knots, ready for the seas in any corner of the world, created with highest quality materials and finishings to fully satisfy the client’s needs: the true distinctive feature of Floating Life’s exclusive K-Series. Based on studies of marine platforms by Floating Life, every client of this series can choose between completely custom superstructures, interior layouts, finishings and décor.

Rigorously respecting the production philosophy that Floating Life is developing for this series, the K-Series hull was created using a sophisticated hydrodynamic computer program and then tank tested at Goteborg (SSPA), with results that confirm the design choices.

Overall height is 5.8 meters, with a 2.8 meter draft at full load: among yachts of similar dimensions, this reserve buoyancy guarantees an incomparable level of safety.

The second K-Series unit is a five deck #yacht, 42.8 meters long, with a maximum beam 9.4 meters, and filled with many innovative features like the immense beach club on the lower deck that can be completely soundproofed.

With resolute and aggressive lines, this #yacht is also rich with interior zones where guests can enjoy innumerable pleasurable moments in the most complete comfort: the 50m2 bathing platform astern features a secondary extendable platform, allowing the owner and his guests to relax with their pieds dans l’eau; the 170m2 aft deck transforms into a cinema or a partially sheltered open air disco; plus two interior salons and an outdoor dining area that can seat up to 14 guests.

The owner has the entire upper deck at his disposal. Conceived as an exclusive owner’s deck, the almost 75m2 deck includes the owner’s cabin, two bathrooms, a spacious salon and a Jacuzzi on a private terrace facing aft.

The upper deck holds the skipper’s quarters which communicate directly with the bridge. The bridge itself features an integrated instrument panel with navigation and communication systems usually only found on 60 meter long yachts.

Particularly striking, a confirmation of the vast onboard space available, is the aft section of the main deck, capable of holding an 11 meter tender. The main deck continues with a spacious living zone and two guest cabins, both with their own bathrooms. Forward there is still enough space to hold a 6 meter tender, a jet ski and a SUV, just as requested by the owner. Launch and recovery of the tenders is by two large cranes, similar to those used by northern ocean supply vessels.

Below decks we find two double cabins, perfectly separated for maximum guest privacy, with crew quarters at the bow. The space below the lower deck is also exploited to it’s maximum: a large engine room, considerable storage space, the night generator area and a control room. Forward we have the laundry, wine cellar and cold storage.
