Porsche Golf Cup enjoys record number of participants and captivating World Final

Great Britain wins in Majorca

Stuttgart/Palma de Mallorca. Interest in the game of #golf is growing among #porsche customers: more than 12,000 amateur golfers competed in over 220 preliminary tournaments around the world in the 2016 #porschegolfcup. This once again surpassed the record number of participants set the previous season. The top 98 players from 20 different countries went head to head from 8th to 11th may in the #porschegolfcup World Final on the Spanish island of Majorca in the Mediterranean. Team Great Britain emerged victorious in the prestigious Nations Cup.

The British team finished ahead of their counterparts from Austria and France after two rounds in excellent conditions at the Son Gual and Alcanada #golf courses. The five members of the victorious British team each received a place among the starting field for the Pro-Am tournament at this year’s #porsche European Open (27th to 30th July, Green Eagle #golf Courses, Hamburg).

The winner of the ladies gross competition was Minako Mitsugi from Japan. In the men’s singles, victory in the gross competition went to Brazil’s Renato Song. Unfortunately, none of the participants managed to drive away in this year’s Hole-in-One Prize, a #porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet.

“Perfection and passion were at the heart of this #porschegolfcup World Final,” said Oliver Hoffmann, Director Experiential Marketing at #porsche AG, who presented the trophies. “And yet, for all the ambition and competitiveness, the participants never forgot the fun and joy of the game. It is precisely this mixture, together with the opportunity to chat to like-minded #porsche and #golf enthusiasts, that once again made this year’s #porschegolfcup World Final another very special #event. Congratulations to all the winners.”

The #porsche brand experience rounded off an exclusive support programme for all the participants and their guests: the entertaining opening evening in a former quarry was followed 24 hours later by dinner in the Port Adriano marina, before the evening presentation ceremony on a traditional finca in Son Termens brought proceedings to a close on the final day after a thrilling finale. A special highlight was in store for all those not playing for the coveted trophies: a test drive in one of the latest range of #porsche models on Majorca’s demanding, winding mountain roads.
