Team #bianchi Countervail turned into a Celeste party the Marlene Sudtirol Sunshine Race, Internazionali d'Italia Series' round 4 in Nals (Italy) on Sunday, April 9th. An overall strong performance took Marco Aurelio Fontana to the top spot with a 1:26:39 time, preceding teammate Stephane Tempier: Bianchi's big guns finished the race riding their Methanol CV in parade. Florian Vogel was third with a 16-second gap. Fontana and Tempier had already placed first and second respectively in Internazionali d'Italia Series' opener in Verona. Fontana now leads the GC (113 points) with Tempier runner-up (100).
Chiara Teocchi delivered an excellent performance as well, closing fourth among Open Women and best Under 23, 4:52 behind winner Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa and 25 seconds behind the third placed, Elisabeth Osl. Thanks to this result, the Italian goes up to 78 points in the GC, 3 less than overall leader Serena Calvetti, while taking over the Under 23 leader’s jersey.
FONTANA: "WE ARE AMONG THE TOP TEAMS"
"Finally I'm back to victory in Nals. After two races affected by inconveniences, today everything was perfect. The double with Tempier and Teocchi's result prove that we are riding fast and we are among the strongest team. Today both my legs and my head worked smoothly, on a course where nothing happens by accident. I controlled my rivals in the early race, then I handled myself wekk on the long climb and finally attacked in the technical stretch and the downhill. We also took back the leader's jersey and we aim to keep it in #teambianchicountervail for the second year in a row".
TEMPIER: "A CRESCENDO RACE. MY SHAPE IS GETTING BETTER"
Stephane Tempier is also happy with his result: "It was a good race made harder by the heat. My performance was a crescendo: my start was slow and I don't know why, but then I found confidence and returned in the top positions, until the finish on parade with Marco. My shape is getting better, I hope we'll go on picking further satisfactions in the next events".
TEOCCHI: “I AIM FOR THE GC WIN IN COURMAYEUR”
Chiara Teocchi can't hide her satisfaction: "A good result. I had already proved to be in a good shape in Montichiari and today I was hunting for a podium spot. I felt a little bit stuck at the beginning, but then I sped my pace halfway through the race, recovered four positions in the last two laps. I finished a few seconds away from the podium, behind top riders who I'm proud to duel with”. Teocchi sits three points behind leader Serena Calvetti in the GC: only Courmayeur's round will crown the winner of the 2017 Internazionali d'Italia Series: "It won't be easy to climb over Serena: may the best win".
JUNIOR TEAM'S CADET MINOTTI TAKES 4th
Junior Team's four riders entered the Marlene Sunshine Race as well. Simone Minotti placed fourth among Cadets. Rookies Fiammetta Allocca and Vadim Bodnarenko finished eighth and 40th respectively, whilst Marco Gozzi was forced to withdrawal with a chain rupture. In the combined ranking (race + technical test), Allocca was second and Minotti fourth.
TEAM’S BIKES
Bianchi supplies the team with two high-end carbon models with racing geometry: the revolutionary Methanol CV and Methanol 29.1 FS (full suspension). The Junior Team is equipped with Methanol 29 SX model.
