A new fleet of Jeep and Alfa Romeo vehicles for the Italian State Police
The time-honoured #partnership with #fca is consolidated: "A long road together".
The first #jeep #renegade and #alfaromeo #giulietta vehicles destined to join the fleets of the Crime Prevention Unit and of Police Stations were handed over today at the Police Academy (Istituto Superiore di Polizia) in Rome at the presence of Police Chief, Franco Gabrielli, and Chief Operating Officer of the #fca EMEA Region, Alfredo Altavilla. A new giuliaveloce, with a Highway Patrol outfit, which will become the official convoy outrunner, was also presented. The ceremony reasserted the time-honoured #partnership that has tied #fca to the Italian State Police for nearly a century.
The Italian Police has successfully sampled the extraordinary features of the #jeep #renegade 2.0 Multjet 4x4 120 HP Sport, the best mid-size #suv in its category both off and on the road. Its dynamic capabilities and its proportions make it perfect for law enforcement activities in cities and hard-to-reach rural areas even in the toughest conditions. The 1.6 Multjet 120 HP version of #alfaromeo #giulietta, with its performance and features, is the car that best expresses the need for quick action and security that the Police demand.
Today, with the presentation of the giuliaveloce in Highway Patrol outfit, the #alfaromeo fleet of the Italian State Police includes two cars with 2.0 turbo petrol 280 HP engine provided on loan for use basis, which will be used as official convoy outrunners.
The new #alfaromeo fits a 2.0 turbo petrol engine delivering 280 HP at 5250 rpm and implements innovative Q4 technology developed to manage traction in real time to ensure the best in terms of performance, efficiency and security. In short, the system secures the advantages of all-wheel drive and at the same time guarantees fuel efficiency, reactivity and rear-wheel driving satisfaction. In addition to full comfort-related equipment, giuliaveloce fits new and efficient active safety systems, such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) and pedestrian recognition, IBS (Integrated Brake System), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and cruise control with speed limiter.
Over the course of the year, the #fca Group has supplied many cars to the Italian Police to demonstrate the versatility of the range characterised by the country's excellent technological know-how and best creative spirit: Fiat Tipo 5Doors for Prefectures and Police Headquarters, Fiat Panda 4x4 and Fiat Punto for Police Stations, Scudo and Doblò for Dog Units, and the Fiat Professional best-seller Ducato for transporting passengers and goods.
Alfa Romeo and the Italian State Police
For over half a century the Italian State Police has relying on #alfaromeo cars and engines to enforce law and order. The #alfaromeo 1900 T.I. was the first model to establish the "Police - Alfa Romeo" connection with its 100 HP, power and safety at the beginning of the 1950s. In 1955, the role of "panther", as police cars are dubbed, passed from the 1900 to the fast #giulietta T.I. This model was followed by the Giulia with 1600 cubic centimetre engine that delivered 92 HP. In the 1960s, the #alfaromeo "panther" line-up included coupé models, like the 2600 Sprint with Bertone bodywork, and vans, such as the Romeo II. Other #alfaromeo models were to become "panthers" and become firmly established in the country's collective imaginary, like the Alfetta, the New #giulietta, the Alfasud, the 33, the Alfa 90, the Alfa 75, the 156 and the 159, sedan and Sportwagon, to today's #giulietta and giuliaveloce.
