ROLLE, SWITZERAND, 29th September 2016 – Following a thrilling week of #uefachampionsleague group stage football, #nissan, the official global automotive #sponsor of the #competition, has revealed that #borussiadortmund vs. Real Madrid C.F was the most exciting fixture, according to the #nissan Excitement Index.
This scientific formula, which calculates an excitement score based on match stats including: goal(s) scored, involvement of star player(s), booking(s) and fan attendance, determined the 2-2- result as the most exciting #uefachampionsleague match this week.

With the half way point of the group stage fast approaching], FC Barcelona tops the #nissan Excitement Index Table** with an excitement score total of 23.6 points ahead of second place of Spanish rivals Real Madrid C.F with 18.2 points.

Last season, in partnership with scientists at Loughborough University, #nissan launched their Excitement Index by conducting live ‘excitement experiments’ on football fans during six #uefachampionsleague matches. Fans were fitted with wearable technology to monitor and gather data, including: heart rate, breathing rate and electro-dermal activity, to examine the physiological effect excitement has on them. This data was then combined with official match statistics from Opta to develop a scientific formula*, now at the heart of the #nissan Excitement Index.
