TRIUMPHUS VISIONIS
MARIA TERESA ORTOLEVA curated by FEDERICO GIANI
From the 21th September to the 14th October 2016, the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, in the exhibition space in 9 Via Vigevano in Milan, hosts the second appointment of Project Room.
The protagonist will be #mariateresaortoleva (Milano, 1990), presenting a new version of Triumphus Visionis, first installed on the Stair of Honours of Università Cat- tolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and presented during Ex- po 2015 at the Vatican Pavilion.
“Trained as a painter – affirms Federico Giani, curator of the initiative – #mariateresaortoleva (1990) examines the connections between dynamics of vision and imagination, developing a research process that brings together a variety of references from the sciences and the humani- ties. Her spatial interventions take the form of primarily sculptural installations: immersive environments direct the gaze and action of the spectators, sharing with them the creative process of the work”.
The core of Triumphus Visionis is a 10-metre long digital print on chiffon. Resulting from a process of selecting and layering, it presents an enquiry into image archives, digital databases and search engines, as well as into the history of the genre of bestiaries, diagrammatic represen- tation and drawing.
Reinterpreting the installation of 2015, Maria Teresa now focuses more on the interaction with the spectator: placing mirrors, platforms and seats under the chiffon, she encourages the viewer to self-determine one’s own approach of fruition of the work, in a dynamic of active vision. Drawings, notes and various resources constitute the subtext of Triumphus Visionis. Exhibited for the first time on this occasion, they allow to explore further the installation through an analytical approach.
On 15th October (12th Giornata del Contemporaneo promoted by AMACI), during the finissage of Triumphus Visionis the Foundation invites the public of all ages to take part in a workshop led by the artist.
With the Project Room, the Foundation offers to artists under-30 its spaces and expertise in conceiving and creating art projects. Also, promoting educational activities led by the Educatio- nal department, it offers to the younger public the opportunity to explore the contemporary arts.
All Project Rooms and related activities are realised thanks to the support of EasyReading Multi- media and to the collaboration of Blazing Strategies International Ltd.
