Integrated Modular #design for a constantly evolving market

The #sistema collection came about from the idea of producing an upholstered modular sofa system that could be adapted to either private or contract applications. This project, which combines a dynamic contemporary #design sensibility with economies of scale, ultimately came to fruition after several years in development through the collaboration of #viccarbe with the Barcelona based international #design studio Lievore Altherr Molina.

The technical and logistical challenges of designing a modular seating system have been elegantly solved through a rigorous and integrated #design approach based on a combination of common and changeable elements.

“Sistema is basically composed of 6 individual seating/backrest modules the main variables of which are the height of the backrest and the width of the seat. These modules are assembled over a shared modular metal base, designed in such a way to accommodate the greatest range of compositions, guaranteeing a solid support and easy assemblage.”

A series of accessories such as arm rests, legs and trays together with a wide choice of fabrics allow the sofa to be customised to suit individual project requirements. Thanks to its highly customisable concept #sistema provides elegance and comfort both within the home and more public commercial spaces. One of the most revolutionary aspects of the #design is its open-ended character; each year new elements will be produced in order to provide additional options. #sistema is therefore a living product capable of expanding with accessories and #components over time, meeting the demands of the evolving market.
