Honda’s ARC Line assembly line to be introduced at new Automobile plant in Thailand

Honda has developed an innovative new approach to vehicle production, the ARC line. The first example of this setup has been introduced at Honda’s new Prachinburi Plant in Thailand, recently opened in March.

The ARC line differs from a traditional linear production line in that production associates board a ‘cell’ carrying the vehicle, and work on multiple processes as it moves along the line. Once the associates have finished their processes at the end of the line, they disembark the cell and move back to the beginning of the line to board again. Associates take charge of up to five times more processes than in a traditional line, improving workforce efficiency. The architecture of the line also negates the need for expensive and inflexible fixed units, meaning that production levels can be quickly and easily expanded or reduced to meet vehicle demand. New #honda PhoneDownEyesUp Social Campaign Targets Distracted Driving

Honda is encouraging safer driving habits through a new social media campaign titled PhoneDownEyesUp in support of Distracted Driving Awareness month in April. Since distracted driving is a form of multitasking, #honda is launching a new social media video series demonstrating the difficulty and danger in trying to do two things at once. The campaign features six 20 second videos and shows how difficult it is to try and text while participating in everyday activities such as gardening or working out.

“Honda is deeply committed to enhancing the safety of everyone on the road, so it's imperative that we encourage everyone to stay focused, and remind them about the dangers of texting and other potential distractions while behind the wheel," said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Honda
