Yamaha Riders Get Closer To First Enduro 2 Podium Result In Portugal

Showing the potential of the all-new WR450F in muddy and challenging conditions, Outsiders #yamaha Official #enduro2 Team riders kept their battle for the #enduro2 podium alive at the GP of #portugal.

Posting times inside the top three of the #enduro2 class on numerous occasions during both days, Loic Larrieu and Cristobal Guerrero wrapped up a positive round two of the Enduro World Championship with top six class results.

With periods of heavy rain seriously affecting the soft Portuguese terrain, Loic Larrieu nevertheless pushed hard throughout the GP to secure yet more encouraging results aboard his WR450F.

Improving with each special test during the opening day's competition Loic's consistency helped him earn a sixth place result. An error on the day's closing extreme test was the Frenchman's only notable mistake, which considering the extreme nature of the conditions was itself a significant achievement.

Day two saw Larrieu come close to a podium finish. Making a cautious start he finished second fastest on two of the day's special tests and remained mistake free throughout the day. Eventually placing fourth, he missed a third place result by just five seconds.

For Cristobal Guerrero the GP of #portugal also ended on a highly positive note. Despite the Spaniard not feeling entirely comfortable in the wet and muddy conditions, he ended day one with a third place result on the closing extreme test for a fifth place #enduro2 class result.

Despite dropping to sixth on day two Guerrero, like Larrieu, placed as runner-up on two of the day's special tests. Missing out on repeating the fifth place result he claimed on day one by less than one second, Guerrero ended the second round of the 2016 Enduro World Championship pleased with his performances.

The 2016 FIM Enduro World Championship will now move to Grevena in Greece for the third round of the series on May 21/22.
