Ernestomeda at Salone del Mobile 2016

Ernestomeda presents #klab and reinterprets soul and icon

To mark #eurocucina2016, Ernestomeda has the pleasure of presenting the new K-Lab kitchen and the new versions of Soul and Icon, featuring new finishes, materials and technical solutions. All designs are the work of Giuseppe Bavuso, with whom #ernestomeda is continuing the successful association launched in 2012.

K-Lab adopts an informal, dynamic stylistic language and is conceptually intended for a young target. It is inspired by the large workbenches found in industrial contexts and includes a skilful alternation of solid forms and open units. The key features of this new kitchen model include the framed door, used on the base units of the various compositions, with inset handle

Another characteristic of #klab is its use of modular open-fronted systems, which appear in various applications, starting from the K-SYSTEM open-fronted base unit, the structure of which can contain pull-out fittings - drawers and shelves - or fixed components such as the solid wood bottom shelf or the tubular steel footrest. Fixed or pull-out peninsulas can be connected to the structure. The same system is used in the tall unit - able to take built-in ovens - the wall unit and the ceiling K-SYSTEM with island hood, fitted with handy glass shelves. These items are also equipped with LED LINE lighting.

The frame of the new K-TABLE is made from the same elements as the K-System Open-Fronted Base Unit and can be personalised in the new metallix finishes or the new metal-look lacquered colours. The version on display at the show has a top in solid Deluxe vintage oak, but the table is available in all the #ernestomeda worktop materials.

The Dual cooking/washing monoblocincludes a hob with front controls. The sink is in the same material as the worktop, while different types of built-in installation are possible for the hob.

Another #klab feature is the accessory rail, also available in combination with the shelf system, which can be fitted with racks for glasses, spices and knives. The layout is completed by the Show glass-fronted cabinets, in wall-mounted and floor-standing versions.

The evolutions of Soul and Icon

In addition to the new #klab kitchen, two new compositions of SOUL will also be on display at Eurocucina. A kitchen project which blends contemporary #design trends with items with a vintage flavour, and a new composition of Icon, the first project styled by #giuseppebavuso for #ernestomeda.

A central role in the characterisation of Soul continues to be the MEDLEY system, which can be configured in a vast assortment of combinations and is designed to furnish not only kitchens but living spaces too. MEDLEY can be equipped with a plate/glass/cutlery drainer, connected to the sink by a base with ducts and water collection bowls. The MEDLEY-HOOD-IN hood can also be integrated in the system. The Soul programme also includes the SKYLINE island hoods. The table on display is the CYCLOS revolving model, which transforms from a snack-top in the closed position into a dining table by rotating through 90° or 180°. The TAG FILTER handles ensure a healthy kitchen environment thanks to the aeration filter - fitted on the inside - that allows air exchange inside the unit. Also on show at Eurocucina is a version of Soul in which the handles are replaced by horizontal groove strips.

The new Icon composition incorporates the programme’s key features: from the AIR door with groove strip in line with the new GAP handle to the EVOLUTION peninsula, now also available in a new configuration above a corner base unit, and the INDOOR cupboards, offered with new internal fittings.

The main innovation is the introduction - for all three kitchen programmes - of fresh materials and finishes, starting from the range of metallix colours and the metal-look lacquered finishes. The novelties continue with new types of glass, including a distinctive diamond-moulded version, new finishes – titanium, cocoa and umber -  and, in the marble and stone selection – Calacatta marble in semi-gloss version, semi-gloss Breccia imperiale, leather Sahara and Toffee brown, flamed Piasentina Stone and semi-gloss Santafiora Stone.

In the range of woods, apart from the new knotted terra d’ombra oak veneer and open-pore black oak, the focus is on the Deluxe woods - Vintage oak and Quercus Oak - solid woods of distinctive beauty, which reveal all the wood's natural transformation over time: vein patterns and streaking, unique, subtly varied colours that transmute between shades.
